Restaurant Clémentine - Bistrot Terrasse Paris 2 — Restaurant in Paris

I wasn't planning on writing a review, but after receiving two reminders to share my experience, I felt compelled to do so. We visited this restaurant with our two-year-old child, and the first thing the owner said to us was that I should have informed them about bringing a child. I’ve never encountered such a request before, and I didn’t realize it was something that required prior notice. From the start, the atmosphere was unwelcoming. It felt as though our presence, especially with a child, was more of a disturbance than anything else. Throughout our meal, we felt uneasy and overly conscious about our son's behavior, which made it hard to enjoy the experience. The food itself was pretty standard—not particularly memorable. The owner came across as pretentious and lacked genuine warmth, which further added to the discomfort. Given the numerous glowing reviews, I’m struggling to understand the hype. My husband and I stumbled upon Clementine during our short trip to Paris. We were welcomed with warm smiles and offered a table despite not having a reservation during prime dinner time. We each chose the 3 course menu and both had a fabulous experience from starter to dessert. My husband particularly loved the duck entree and my sweet tooth was very satisfied with the profiteroles! Our waitress was lovely & very helpful (as our French is virtually non existent) and we found it impressive that the chef visited our table upon delivery of each of our courses. We really loved this place. It is a very nice little family restaurant in the center of Paris. We went for the lunch menu - phantastic quality for a reasonable price. The service was very nice and accommodating. As we only speak a little French the staff was very happy to support with an English menu and English service. Definitely a place to have a good lunch, but as the place is small and very popular (probably because of the excellent home made food) a reservation or an early come is recommended. Do expect some excellent French food and make sure to include the desert. Good wine selection, even for the glass...
