Restaurant KALINKA la cuisine Ukrainienne et Russe — Restaurant in Paris

I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, had a better experience than the one I had with this restaurant!! Not only was their food absolutely amazing and delicious, as in the most delicious food I have EVER had, but their service was BEYOND top notch!! They took care of us like no waiters have ever done before, with kindness that is unmatched, and made us feel as if not only were we welcome, but we belonged! (We are tourists from America, so this felt absolutely wonderful, and was by far the highlight of our trip!) The musician was extremely sociable and personable, and to top it all off, even let me play his balalaika just for fun! The atmosphere was beyond perfect, with the kindest staff that made the experience FUN!! If you’re looking not only for a delicious dinner but also a perfect experience to match, THIS is the restaurant to go to. Although I can’t place their names, big shout out to our waitress who recommended us bars after we asked (and even asked her friend for more recommendations so we could be better prepared), the host who gave us the most tasteful shots and had such plentiful kindness, and the musician who performed for us all night!...

well, where do I begin... tired of European style of food, we wanted something more familiar and tasty... so we looked up a Ukrainian spot and Kalinka was the closest to our location. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you've been transported to a charming corner of Eastern Europe. The borsch was a revelation - rich, flavorful, and simply delicious. And the Chicken Kiev Cutlets? Oh my goodness! They were the highlight of the evening - tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It's clear that the chefs here know their stuff. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and they knew their menu inside and out. The ambiance of KALINKA is worth mentioning too. Возлагала большие надежды на этот ресторан, которые, к сожалению, разбились в пух и прах.

Борщ — уровня неплохой столовой. Вкусный, но без глубины и того самого взрыва вкуса, который делает борщ одним из вкуснейших супов в мире. То, что подали, было просто окей, не более.

Суп «из щавеля» был тоже ок, но вызвал вопросы. В нем не было ни грамма характерной для щавеля кислинки, а текстура листьев напоминала размороженный нарезанный шпинат (épinards hachés), который во франции продается повсюду. Как суп из шпината - ничего особенного, на том же уровне, что и борщ. Но называть его щавелевым это, мягко говоря, введение в заблуждение.

Селедка - самое большое разочарование. В русской и украинской кухне селедка - это в первую очередь соленая или маринованная закуска. Найти такую во Франции большая проблема, и я искренне надеялась наконец попробовать ее здесь, в приличном ресторане, который позиционирует себя как украинский и русский. Каково же было мое разочарование, когда принесли обычную копченую селедку, которую я могу купить в любом Carrefour! Я считаю, это неприемлемым, так как это очевидное игнорирование кулинарной традиции. Не смогли найти правильную селедку в магазине — и решили заменить её суррогатом … Так проще и дешевле, видимо.

Цена/Качество: За эти три не слишком большие порции с сомнительным содержанием с меня взяли 27 евро. Соотношение цена-качество абсолютно неудовлетворительное.

Итог: Очень жаль. Я надеялась обрести здесь уголок родной кухни, место, куда можно возвращаться и куда смело приводить французских друзей, чтобы показать им жемчужины нашей гастрономии. Увы, вместо этого получила безликие, неаутентичные блюда и разочарование....
