Again I do NOT recommend this place to Asian people. It would be good to go another steakhouse!!
The word of "misunderstanding" from the owner made me add more bad experience at the same time!!!
I just wanted to share my bad experience not creating any fiction. I just want the restaurant not to treat different per the races of the customers. Why I waste writting a wrong history now during my so happy time in Paris!!!
I forgot one more bad experience. When my wife showed a photo from Google to the server and asked him about that menu, he replied to us and asked us if we were ready to order. When my wife told him that we needed more time, he complainted why we held him at that busy time only to ask that thing. But when another groups of white people called him and said that they didn't know what to order. He smiled and explained all at very nice way. At that time we were only Asian customer. Our original plan was to relax and enjoy another dinner of Paris there, but we were very unhappy so we changed our mind, just ate the beef and left in 30 min.
The owner said that any available table can be served to the people without reservation. But why Asian people NO but white people Yes???
If you are an Asian, do NOT go otherwise you will experience a discrimination.
My wife made a reservation ahead of 3 weeks and we arrived on time. There are a few available tables for a party of 2. When we asked to sit on a specific one, the owner said no. But after a couple of min the same table was for the customers even came without a reservation.
When we are having the beef, another Asian couple like us came in and asked for a table. But when they said they came without reservation, they were immediately refused but when another white young lady came in just after they left and said exactly the same, that is, she didn't have a reservation, she was offered a table to dine in.
This is our 4th visit in Paris and we have never experienced that bad thing but in that restaurant, we got that bad one.
The beef was not bad but no so delicious either.
As you are an Asian, why do you want to have a beef under that kind of discrimination? I am sure that there are many other steakhouse where everybody from any...
Read moreThis is a review that starts ‘where to begin’. The service was excellent, the food was excellent and so was the ambience. There was even a British national treasure and his wife as a guest.
We were staying near Gare’s Du Nord and L’Est and we’re looking at the options where to eat. There looked to be plenty all a reasonable walk away and Laura came up with this option, Sacree Fleur, and we thought if we can’t get a table there be somewhere else nearby. we arrived and the very welcoming waiter had a table for us and Brought menus, water and bread. When it came to ordering he was very helpful indeed. Laura had the frogs legs for a starter (for the first time), and I had the French onion soup (pictured).
When it came to ordering the wine, there were plenty of options for the Red Wine, I had one variety in mind but for a similar price the waiter suggested a different style which was very enjoyable.
Laura enjoyed the frogs legs where as I struggled with the one I had but it’s was more the idea of them than anything else. The French onion soup was as you’d hope it would be. Rich with onion and a great piece of cheesy bread on top. For the main course Laura had the duck and I had the onglet. When I was asked how I wanted it cooking, the again helpful waiter, when I asked for medium suggested that was the maximum for this type of beef, he said they’d cook it slightly less but if I wasn’t happy they’d cook it more. Needless to say when it arrived it was perfect and so soft to eat. Lots of other diners were going for the sharing beef for 2 or 3 people on the hot plates this looked delicious but to much for us on this day. For desert Laura had the warm chocolate cake and I had the Tarte Tatin (pictured). Laura said ‘how do they make the cake so light’. Again both excellent.
All in just over €100 for the meal. And we’d happily go back as soon as we could. It’s the sort of restaurant you don’t want to say good things about so you can get a table next...
Read moreWe discovered this place a few years back right after it opened. It is placed at the foot of sacre coeur from which it derived its name. We have came back consistently every time we went to Paris and each time it has been our happy place. Many places change over time for the worst but this one hasn’t. It stayed true to its root. The place went through renovation few years back but kept the same spirit such as pictures of happy cows across the walls. The meat is truly incredible and yet it is affordable. You have great appetizers and dessert as well but our focus has been the meat:-) This time we tried the fois gras and the onion soup which both were great. Our waiter recommended the Cahors wine (Bordeaux region)which was also perfect. For the meat, you can order traditional steaks cut but the way to go is to order the piece de piece for 1kg (2 pounds)or 1.5kg (3 pounds) that they serve it sliced on a hot stone with 3 different (great) hot sauces on the side. The stone allows you to finish cooking it to your liking. Since I, as well as my daughter, love our meat blue(super rare), we remove it from the stone as soon as we got it served. However my wife use the stone to cook her slices until it is medium to well cooked. This approach is a great way to share while getting it cooked the way you like it. The manager Matt(Matur) and his son are amazing, super welcoming and make this place like our second home. If you are looking for one of the best steak house in Paris without being pretentious, this is your place. This place is always busy so reservation is strongly recommended, either by...
