Sormani — Restaurant in Paris

Very expensive, underwhelming lunch. Food was marginal with an average presentation. Bread and butter was sub-par (esp. for France). Short pour on wines by the glass. Service was basic and impersonal. room atmosphere felt sterile and had odd modern art bold ly depicting women. Altogether, a poor choice for our last meal in Paris. p.s. After reading the owner's response, we were shocked by their arrogant rudeness suggesting our standards are aligned with McDonald's!! I am trained in the culinary arts and have dined in many fine restaurants around the world. We are always happy to pay top dollar for quality food and service. Unfortunately, not sure if we felt underwhelmed because we had a 4 months old in our table of 7 or the atmosphere was artificial and impersonal. The pictures online are confusing as it feels there’s a view to the restaurant but there isn’t. The appetizers were fantastic, main course average with us covering all of the main options within our table. The Tiramisu was below average at best. This was a subpar experience given the price we paid for it. Very happy for the personal touch that they offered a “free Tiramisu” to celebrate my daughter’s birthday! Avec mon épouse nous avions entendu parler du restaurant Sormani comme d'une institution spécialisée dans la cuisine italienne. Le cadre est authentique au charme "parisien" sobre et feutré avec de superbes lustres et appliques en verre de Murano. Pour le dîner, nous nous sommes laissés guider par le maître des lieux. En entrée, un carpaccio de bar surmonté de quelques notes de produits de saisons apportant tantôt de la fraîcheur tantôt de la douceur, parfaitement équilibré. Ont suivi ensuite les rigatonis au homard et les linguines aux langoustines...Excellents!!! Les sauces de l'un et l'autre étaient crémeuses et parfumées. Délicieux! Et bien sûr, étant donné que nous avons compris que le propriétaire était sommelier ( très doué même) nous nous sommes laissés guider et il nous a proposé un excellent blanc sec italien "Cava bianca" de la maison Terrecarsiche avec de superbes notes d'agrumes, de peches blanches et de fruits exotiques subtiles...Merci à toute l'équipe.
