Being in such a close proximity to Champs-Élysées where you have a lot of very mediocre touristy restaurant, you wouldn't think you'd find a nice little gem that is Udon Kisin! 💖 The deceivingly not so obvious storefront makes it a bit of a find from outside. It's very reminiscent of quaint little family owned restaurants in Japan though, and it is as authentic as it gets! Inside you are greet with elegant wooden interiors, and a michelin 2023 guide adorned their display window!
I came here with plenty of expectations and I'm happy to say they were met! I had to order the Tempura Udon (chaud) and it was an absolute hit. The soup was very light and the noodles were fresh, it didn't taste like the usual store bought ones may udon restaurants make the mistake of. The batter on the tempura is light and crispy so that it doesn't take the spotlight away from the fresh assortment of shrimp and vegetables
The Nibuta donburi was unlike anything i tried before. It was a very tender slice of pork (similar to chasu you have on rameb) but on a bed of rice. The karaage was wonderful too, marinated and done in house
It was a bit busy around 1:30pm when we were there on a Thursday but we managed to be seated right away anyway and our food was delivered within 15 minutes!
I gotta say, the restaurant deserves what it has accomplished. If i had to chance to be back in town, im definitely coming back to...
Read moreI went to the restaurant yesterday. The food was excellent. However, the service was not the best as I was treated differently. The Japanese waiter, who is very mature by age—I’m not sure if he is the owner or the waiter—treated other customers with a warm welcome, talked to them nicely, even smiled and thanked them all the time. But for me every time he served, he looked pissed and looked at me like he hated me maybe because I’m not Japanese or white (I wasn’t what was on his mind, but I guessed). And when he served, he moved things with an unpleasant attitude, like he wanted to point out that I was unwelcome there, but he couldn’t say. I thanked him in Japanese, English, and French but I got only an unpleasant look, and he didn’t say anything back unlike other tables they got the best services from him. The other waiter was fine. He talked to me like other customers. I have been to Japan many times but have never been treated like this; I have only experienced excellent service and a warm welcome every time, which is why I like Japan but the service from this Japanese restaurant here in Paris was not the same. I didn’t say anything bad or do anything bad to that waiter. If the restaurant had a camera, you could look into it and see how different he treated me compared to the others. It’s the worst service from MICHELIN star...
