Fantastic location. Good service in general, attentive staff that care about the guest.
The hotel and rooms are clearly designed to be Instagram-fuel, which I guess is pretty and all, but it baffles me how the rooms and hotels were designed to care about Instagram and nothing else at all. There are serious design flaws in the rooms and hotel.
Citizen M presents you with a high brow, look at all the tech, state of the art room you control with a tablet. From this, several TV channels work randomly (sometimes the TV connects to them, sometimes not). You control the AC, except you can't really shut it off and it took forever for the AC to actually change the setpoint after we changed it.
The bathroom door is strategically located to make sure you either bang the toilette inside or the counter top sink outside of it. Inside, you'll find that the shower door closes just enough to allow a nice curtain of water to splash continuously unto the toilet and the toilet paper holder. This enables the special wet-wipe-surprise achievement for the next time you use that WC. Shower claims to give you 40 C hot water, don't believe them, it's only mildly warm. The bathroom also has super cool color lighting you can adjust in the tablet, which sounds awesome until you scare your self after taking a whiss at 3 AM and hurriedly trying to recall if you had anything that green today (this also doubles as an interesting way to figure out how color addition and substraction works).
The bed is a bit elevated and trapped between 2 walls and the window. My mom almost popped her hip replacement trying to get unto the bed in their room and pops almost knocked himself out trying to squeeze over at night to use the restroom.
If your marriage has any mystery left, come prepared for slightly tinted bathroom crystal doors that will show you all the magic through a thinly veiled lights-shadows-surround sound show (remember, the lights change color).
Also, our toilet was broken, when it flushes it kinda keeps going. The staff was informed but the solution was obviously for me to make sure I push it in the right way so as to not get it stuck, why have someone fix it?
The rooms ARE pretty, though.
Nice place to come and take some pretty pictures, but I don't recommend...

This was my first time staying at the CitizenM brand but it was an amazing experience that I am truly elated over!
CHECK IN * I picked this location because it was directly on the Champs-Elysées and had a check-in time as early as 2 PM! What a bargain! Even though I arrived to the hotel at 1 PM, the staff graciously allowed me to check in early and I was ready to head to my room.
HOTEL AMENITIES * The hotel itself is cute and lovely. They have a small convenience store with refreshments and an adorable patio. The decor in the hotel is also modern and striking. I very much enjoyed it. In their main lobby they also have additional seating, tables, and books for you to read at your leisure.
THE ROOM * The room itself is pretty small, but then again a ton of hotel rooms in Paris tend to be small in general so if you’re going solo it's not all too bad. If you have a carry on suitcase, there's a drawer directly underneath the bed where you can store it conveniently. There is an additional center drawer that houses the in-room safe.
There's no nightstand but there is a little desk and chair if for some reason you needed to get some work done or just want a place to set your trinkets and things.
They have an ensuite bathroom and walk-in shower with the bath amenities affixed to the wall. It's a bit tight but it works.
At the front of the room you will find the little nook "closet" with hangers. Your suitcase (medium or large size) should also fit in this space.
CHECK OUT * One thing I really appreciated about my stay was that even though they weren't too keen on extending my check out for free, I asked if it was possible to extend it by even just a few minutes so that I could pick up a few last minute souvenirs. 30 minutes doesnt seem like a lot of time, but it was enough for me to get it done and I'm grateful for that.
OVERALL * If you’re familiar with the brand, then you know what to expect at this point. But as this was my very first time staying at CitizenM, I was very pleased with my experience and look forward...
Read moreBedbugs! Beware.
I stayed here recently for 5 nights. The last night I got a weird giant bug bite before I went to bed. I sent a picture to my mom and she said it looked like a spider bite. I was then bitten all night all over my arms and legs. I thought maybe the spider had gotten caught in the sheets so I left in the morning for my flight home.
I continued to be bitten on the plane and started to worry it was bedbugs. I contacted the hotel through the app to let them know, asked them to do an inspection and let me know if they find bedbugs.
When I got home I immediately washed and dried my belongings and showered to prevent bugs in my home. It didn't work. The biting got worse. I went to urgent care and the doctor confirmed they were bedbug bites.
I contacted the hotel and let them know, and they said they would do an inspection. I called them multiple times for days and days and they still hadn't inspected.
Finally after a week of them mostly dodging my calls, they emailed me letting me know they did find bedbugs. I sent them the $2000 bill I paid for an exterminator and asked for them to compensate for this. They then blamed me for not letting them know about the bedbugs sooner during my stay. They also blamed me for not being more careful in bringing them into my home.
They did refund my stay, but not the exterminator. The emotional and financial burdens from this experience have been devastating. I basically live at the laundromat, constantly paying to wash and dry all of my things.
Then, to add to this, a colleague of mine booked this hotel for a stay last week, not knowing of my experience. We told her about the bedbugs. She then contacted the hotel to cancel and get a refund and they refused, even after she told them her reasoning!
AWFUL DO NOT STAY HERE
See photos of bites- notice the first picture was taken at the hotel, the backdrop is...
