Sometimes unexpected and unplanned meetings are the best and most memorable. Such was my meeting with L’Auberge de Ravilhon.
See .... …. L’Auberge de Ravilhon is located in an old building, the interior is impressive - a combination of antiquity and hipster modernity, but much more moderate than the antiquity. The walls are made of limestone bricks well known in the region, the ceiling is joists. On the second floor there are white tablecloths, downstairs it is more informal for lunch or breakfast; …. For lunch, the menus are on sheets and you can think that the food is ordinary, but it was not even close to that - everything sounded great, looked and tasted very nice.
Feel …. The rating of the restaurant is quite low on Tripadvisor, as well as on Google Maps, but I hasten to note that the latest reviews are from a long time ago. So, a newer review, from this year, is more authoritative as credibility. Reading what is written about the service, I am almost certain that there was a change in ownership, because I did not notice anything that those people were complaining about. …. The staff is energetic young people - everything happens very quickly, you don't miss anything, they offer you wine as soon as your glass is empty.
Hear …. …. The music is great - it was it that persuaded me I was in the right place - modern funk, soul and jazz. ........... Smell .... …. A simple omelette made with mushrooms had such a great aroma that I wondered if I hadn't mistaken the order when I took Coq o vin, but when the rooster came and I smelled it, I realized I wasn't wrong again; …. The wine, as always, is up to standard and I suggest you order some with your food!
Taste .... Sarlat is famous for its goose liver. It is sold everywhere as a souvenir. However, of the world's exports for 2020, 63% is made by France, and on the second place, which country do you think it is? Bulgaria, with 12.28%. …. So here goose liver is served in different forms and it’s worth a try. Keep in mind that he is from Bulgaria, the people from the restaurant themselves confirmed him. …. Again - a wonderful Coq o Vin; …. The others praised the duck leg confit. …. Nougat ice cream, great, with a nice creamy texture when melted.
I strongly recommend L’Auberge de Ravilhon, regardless of the reviews on other platforms. I think the place is worth a lot.

Read moreDear management,
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the recent dining experience at your establishment. I believe it is important to provide feedback so that improvements can be made.
First and foremost, the food quality was below average. The duck confit I ordered was incredibly dry and hard, lacking the tenderness and flavor that is expected from this dish. Additionally, the potatoes served with the meal were also dry, hard, and cold, which greatly detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Furthermore, I ordered a kids canard meal for my children, and it was a huge disappointment. Not only did they find the meal bland, but it was also hard and chewy, indicating that it was overcooked. It is disheartening to see such poor food quality, especially when it comes to meals aimed at younger diners.
Adding to my dissatisfaction, I was wrongly charged for my meal during payment. I ordered a meal priced at 24.90€, yet I was charged for a 34.90€ meal. When I queried the server about the discrepancy, their response was that they had given me a better Foie Gras, justifying the additional charge. However, I was not informed of any such upgrade or additional charge beforehand. It is highly unprofessional to add charges to a customer's bill without their knowledge or consent.
I would like to stress the importance of accurately reflecting charges on customer receipts. Customers should be able to trust that they are being charged correctly for the items they have ordered. It is crucial to ensure transparency and avoid any confusion or dissatisfaction.
In conclusion, I urge you to address these concerns and take necessary actions to improve the food quality and service at your establishment. It is essential to provide patrons with an enjoyable dining experience, from the taste and presentation of the food to the accuracy of billing.
Thank you for considering my feedback. I hope to see meaningful changes made so that future patrons can have a better dining experience.
CHECK BILL BEFORE PAYMENT....
Read moreRushed service with below average food. We spotted this place while walking around during our last afternoon in Sarlat and decided to return for dinner. Upon our arrival we ordered aperitifs and hoped to settle into a relaxing evening meal. Our drinks arrived in two minutes, along with the wine we had ordered for dinner, quickly followed by my husband's foie starter. I ordered a pasta dish with local mushrooms because it was advertised as "our fresh pasta" - it arrived thirty seconds after my husband's starter and plopped down in front on me. It was.awful - mushy, gooey taste less with only about three little mushrooms (12€). My husband's main meal was coq au vin (chicken in wine) - which was below average. But in addition to the lack of quality in the food the attitude of the older woman running the restaurant stands out as one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in a very long time. The young woman was a bit pleasant but clearly being directed by the older woman. The other tables also seemed rushed and when a nice young couple stopped in for late meal (Saturday) they were clearly not welcome and left to find another dining spot and we wished we had done the same. When my husband finished his dessert and told we didn't want coffee but wanted to relax and finish our nearby full bottle of wine the check was brought in anyway. Sarlat is a town that gets many tourists and many never return and as a result some restaurants think it ok to just be medicore, but this place went...
