Aux Délices de Tom — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

Evian has lots of great pastry shops, but this one was a letdown. I ordered a chocolate eclair that looked good but was filled with a chocolate cream that was too sweet and heavy, not the fresh cream I was expecting.

When I asked to change my eclair because it wasn't what I thought it would be, I didn't think it would be a big deal.

Unfortunately, the staff were not friendly. They laughed at me for thinking chocolate eclairs usually have cream in them and said that's not the case in France.

Overall, the cakes didn't taste as good as they looked, and the rude service made it worse. It's sad that such a small problem turned into a big disappointment. I can't...

Aux Délices de Tom doesn’t seem to translate too smoothly into English, but as far as I’m concerned, it means “Tom’s House of Utter Deliciousness.” The wonderful baked goods there are a pure delight. Running the gamut from baguettes and boules to croissants, pain au chocolat and pain au raisin to wickedly tempting desserts, one simply can’t go wrong here.

Prices are great, the staff are wonderful in helping me despite my fractured French, and they adhere to all COVID requirements. What’s not to like?

Such yummy treats and very warm and friendly hosts who were so patient with us even though we speak very little French and they have limited English. We ate breakfast here each day and everything we tried was wonderful. We sampled a good array of both sweet and savory items. Seemed to be a very busy place catering to tourists and locals alike.
