We ended up here because Ras La Tasse was too full. Big mistake.
We arrived to find the water glasses dirty. We ordered drinks and pulled out our laptops to get a bit of work done. When the drinks arrived, we were told to put our laptops away because “we don’t allow work on Sundays.” We quickly drank up and left—brushing by a woman at the next table, pounding away on her laptop, working diligently. We then brushed past another customer who was eating brunch—right after we were told brunch was no longer being served.
As the only English speakers in the café, it’s hard not to feel like we were treated differently. And when we paid, it was the first time I’ve ever been asked directly for a tip in France—not just prompted by the machine, but by the server.
Honestly, not everyone is “just passing through.” We’re living in Toulouse for the next five months. You won’t be seeing our...
Read moreDelicious creative brunch for a reasonable price! Maybe an unreasonable amount of food to be honest :) we took one full brunch and one bacon pancakes a la carte, plus a side of avocado and a poached egg for my brunch plate ‘ocean drive,’ a delicious thick country bread with herbed cream cheese and trout. It also came with juice, hot chocolate, a bowl of yogurt/granola AND some sweet pancakes. The 4 stars is because honestly the espresso was terribly acidic, impossible to drink! It seems the kind of coffee really chosen for putting in milky drinks; they should maybe use a different bean/blend for straight espresso. Also, it would have been nice to have the pancakes served a bit after the toast with trout. I felt forced to kind of alternate sweet/savory, or have the pancakes cold. Plus having everyone served at the same time made the tiny table dangerously crowded in...
Read moreMy first brunch in Toulouse on a Sunday morning. At 19.50€, we had Thai avocado toast with granola bowl and a cup of cappuccino. I’m not a breakfast person but I admit that I enjoyed our brunch here. We didn’t had any reservations but the staff assisted us immediately and brought us in the lower ground area of the restaurant. For me, I find it quite dimmed since it has the underground vibes. The next time I visit, I prefer to dine in near the entrance which also has a good bright ambiance. I also noticed that staff were rushing customers to pay your cheque as soon as you immediately finished your meal. Exactly an hour, the servers were reminding us to pay our bills upstairs and didn’t give us the time to stay anymore longer. Overall, my friends and I enjoyed our...
