Fogo — Restaurant in Toulouse

A friend and I ate here on the recommendation of a server at another restaurant. This was absolutely the best meal that we had in our week in France!

We opted for the 5 course tasting menu + wine pairing.

The meal is blind - they ask about allergens, but otherwise we we completely in their hands. Our server would bring us a course, leave us to enjoy it, and return after we’d finished to explain what we had consumed.

The wine pairing was a perfect compliment for each dish. The service was top notch and there was nothing they could have done differently to elevate our experience.

I won’t go into further detail on each individual dish since they change frequently but if you have the opportunity to dine at Fogo, we highly recommend that you make the reservation and treat yourself.

The first night I arrived in Toulouse I was quite disappointed of the things that I found in google as an example of good restaurants…however I decided just to go around the streets and see if something is going to catch my attention. While I was walking around i saw a little cute restaurant bu the corner of small street. The atmosphere immediately catches me, so I went there to reserve a table, but they were full. The chef told me I can come after 40 min… I waited. I must say that the waiting was one hundred percent worth it. Everything about Fogo is absolutely amazing…the food, the service, their wine selection and the recommendations about which wine will go good with the food that you order. J’avais hâte de tester ce restaurant et… j’ai été déçue! Nous étions 4 au dîner, l’un de nous n’apprécie pas le poisson donc nous n’avons pas opté pour le menu découverte qui est à 70% composé de produits de la mer selon la serveuse. Nous avons donc opté pour la carte (tout n’était pas disponible mais cela peut arriver). Nous avons pris une entrée à partager, mes amis ont pris la pièce de bœuf à partager, le serveur nous a conseillé de prendre une assiette de légume à 12€ car il avait peur que cela fasse trop juste. Effectivement, la pièce de bœuf leur est servie avec une petite portion de frites dans une petite assiette, ce que j’ai trouvé étonnant en prenant la pièce de bœuf la plus grosse de la carte. Ce que j’ai également trouvé étonnant c’est que mon lieu noir (très bon) m’ait également été servi avec des frites, je trouve cela dommage de ne pas avoir travaillé un accompagnement plus adapté, j’ai rarement eu l’habitude de manger un bon poisson comme celui ci avec des frites. Nous avons posé la question a la serveuse pour la quantité des accompagnements, c’était apparement bien ce qui était prévu mais elle a eu la gentillesse d’aller demander en cuisine pour avoir une portion supplémentaire de frites. Je trouve assez dommage de devoir le demander. Dommage également de ne pas avoir plusieurs choix en accompagnements (et peut être moins onéreux que proposer une assiette de légumes a 12€ qui apparaît dans les entrées de la carte).
