Old Boulevard — Restaurant in Batumi

Organised to stay for a few days. The reviews indicated it was a little gem, The location is excellent, the price was keen: We arrived in a tropical storm, the taxi organised by the guest house didn't show and we had a devils own job finding the guest house as its located in the courtyard of surrounding buildings. It is signed, but at four in the morning and in the conditions described it wasn't obvious. Our room was between the reception and the entrance lobby. The lobby is used by the smokers, and there is always someone cluttering up access. The room had a large window with curtains/ blinds which had long seen better days, and everyone and his dog passed right by the window whether coming or going to this property or to otherwise access the yard. Reception wasn't manned when we arrived, but a call to the management had a guy attend to us within five minutes, The toilet for our room was shared with others, the shower/ utility room was full of building materials. The shower worked well enough, but sharing a toilet with the room opposite which held four or five guests was a nuisance. The owner is a character for sure and although very pleasant - we speak the language but if you were an English speaking party then I believe you would find communicating with the staff challenging. I did'nt find it particularly clean and the furniture and décor are old/ tired or just lashed up. We choose to say out for as long as we could and returned only when absolutely necessary. We came back one evening and our door which we had locked was unlocked. Given where we were in the building this was a disaster...

Overall experience is rather spoilt due to incompetent waiter and service. As we got there a decent table was offered and 3 menus were given to us, though there were 4 of us and there were obviously a lot of other menus at the waiter's table at free use. We asked for a 4th one. We waited for a waiter to take our order for about 20 minutes, we pushed the button 3 times and then the manager(?) came to do the waiter's job. Then the waiter rushed at us, took the order and left. The manager(?) apologized niether for that move nor for delayed service. Then almost all of us were served with drinks, probably the waiter didn't bother to bring me some water as ordered. Also he failed to remember who ordered what. I think it's a really rude move for a waiter to take one's phone to put a dish on a table. Then we're served with 1st dishes... with the 2nd along with it right away. What do u suppose to eat 1st? It would get cold before we could even start eating the 2nd, in theory. As the 2nd was served cold. Awesome service. Also i disapprove that type of plates where the size of it is 3-4 times bigger than the actual dish itself. By the way my plate reeked with fat, someone's not washing them properly. Asked for a new one before starting. The food was niether bad nor good. BUT there was a hair or a thread in the desert. We didn't bother to find out. Asked for a new one. And apparantly the stuff can't speak foreign languages well as there were some major...
