I now frequent this restaurant. I really like the kharcho and ostri. Last time and second to the last time I also ate two omelets with bacon. With bread and one mineral water cost 65 lari. Very reasonable for the quantity. [However, the last time I noticed that the quantity of the meat in the ostri was halved using the clever employment of shallow ceramic cookware of the same height as the previous to impart the illusion that nothing changed. Of course, price remained unchanged.] In July, I tried the kupati but that was not to my taste and in August I tried the large circular baked dough with bean paste inside (sorry it's Georgian name slips my mind) and that was also a poor choice on my part. During my second visit (July 2024), I was in the vicinity needing to collect jeans I was having tailored when it started raining so I needed to dash in somewhere for shelter. (Exactly the same happened on my first visit a month before but the rain had been more torrential. But for the tailor across from the side exit of Carrefour, next to the shop selling honey, I would not have discovered Pirosmani's Dukani. P.S. That tailor is a good tailor.) I ordered kharcho, which I enjoyed; then I ordered two orders of omelets and two orders of pork ribs. Strangely, I really enjoyed the eggs and bacon (very long time since I indulged in either eggs or bacon) although the eggs were prepared "easy over" rather than "sunnyside up" and I prefer the latter to enjoy dipping fries in. (I also ordered fries by the way.) Ribs, however, were a bit dry and it would have been better had their been more meat and less bone/gristle. Washed down with an ice-cold barjomi - all totalled for just over 100 lari. Overall, a memorable, unusually early meal for me at 5pm and one of my better meals, strangely enough, in Tbilisi. I skipped dessert, despite exhortations on the part of the waitress to try the cake of the day, as...
Read moreI dont even want to give them 1 star. I would give them minus points. We ordered for lamb chops, Pork bbq, fries and a glass of red wine & a beer. We got lamb pieces instead of chops, which was still ok. Both the dishes were wayyyy too salty- Like unbearable salty.I informed the staff and asked him to try a piece from our plate so he understands what I am talking about. He said its normal as he didn't find it salty! So now, he left and we didnt know what was happening next- is he going to replace the dish or what? After few minutes i walked up to them with google translation with polite words to inform them the issue again. But they wanted to replace only 1 dish. So i questioned the waiter why just 1 dish when both are salty, she showed us an attitude and was rude. So Weird! So I asked them for bill and they had the audacity to charge us the whole amount. Even though they saw the dishes were 98% untouched. I paid the whole amount and left as language was a barrier. But still language doesnt matter, little common sense and good customer service was required....
Read moreWe were waiting to experience this place and planned it in a way that our last dinner before we leave Tbilisi would be authentic Georgian food as we enjoyed it the whole trip. As we placed our order for beer and salads, there was a guest in the restaurant who started speaking in a loud voice, singing along with the live performer and came to our table to shake hands, kissed the hands of the women and then tried to reach out for the small baby at our table. We politely indulged fo a bit, then it got a bit intense with him insisting on carrying the child, and no one in the restaurant stopping him or even responding to our ask to intervene. We decided to leave paying for what we ordered but not having any of it. There was no apology or regret expressed by the staff either. A real shame for what seems like a nice place that perhaps has good food too, ruined our experience because of an unruly guest and unconcerned...
