Wasabi — Restaurant in Tbilisi

I went to this restaurant since I am a sushi lover and really wanted to try their version since their FB page has quite a few claims. The ambiance is very pleasant, the interior is beautiful and sushi and soups tasted fresh and delicious but overall, am I wow-ed by this restaurant? Hmmm, no, I'm not. I am not crazy in love with their soy sauce which seems to have too much salt and has almost an alcohol-like aftertaste to it. It's salty to the point where you start feeling your blood pressure going up in a few minutes. This was a very unpleasant surprise since subpar sauces affect sushi in the worst way obviously. You are better off not dipping rolls in anything but I'd rather have a good soy sauce than nothing at all. I also ordered their Miso soup. Portion size seemed nice, however my understanding is that Miso should include Shiitake mushrooms (?) instead of regular champignons. This is not the end of the world but I love my Shiitake. Tom Yum was very tasty, no objections here. Another thing I tried was spicy salmon gunkan and honestly, it tasted like I almost forgot to mention it here, so you get the idea. I am not the happiest with this restaurant food, although staff is so nice and friendly but the priority here is food. Not really all that cheap compared to other sushi places which most definitely means you should go...

So we wanted to try a new sushi experience in Tbilisi and ended up in "wasabi" to begin with the reception was terrible, you get greeted with a foul smell and frowning upset staff, then you have to order your food where you get shouted at if you ask any questions, you should stick to the menu no questions asked which is so unprofessional and so upsetting when you get treated like this as a costumer, then comes the responsiveness the staff is actually always playing or chatting on thier phones , you can check pictures i attached, so after having all this negative vibe here comes the food, seriously one of the worst tasting food i have ever had , and to ended all you feel like getting kicked out of the restaurant by the rudeness of the waiter serving you, as a conclusion this is a very place overall choose wisely if you wish to...

Wasabi is a trendy spacious eatery on Irakil Abashidze Street in Tbilisi. This popular neighbourhood of Vake is full of cafes, restaurants and wine bars. And very few tourist!
