Alt-Berliner-Biersalon — Restaurant in Berlin

Horrible experience! Will never go here again and have warned others about the terrible service. My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast and found an old, dead bug under the cucumber on her breakfast plate. It was disgusting. A waiter quickly took it away, exclaiming "Oh mein Gott!" We then waited for someone to come and talk to us and bring back a new breakfast for my girlfriend, but instead we sat waiting for several minutes until a waiter came and said, "You must not be hungry anymore. Would you like a coffee on the house?" To which my girlfriend replied, "Yes, I'm still hungry. I didn't get to eat my breakfast. I already have a coffee. I'd like a new breakfast." We then confirmed that the breakfast would be on the house and the waiter said, "Naturlich!" However, when the bill came, the breakfast was on the bill. When we pointed this out, a manager came and spoke to us and told us that we had the "1st breakfast" for free (the one my girlfriend didn't eat except for half a bread, because there was a giant bug on her plate), and that we had to pay for the second. We argued that this did not make sense because it was a bad experience to almost eat a bug for breakfast and no one ate the first breakfast, but we were told since we were sitting outside that the bug could have fallen from above (an old, very dead bug, under a cucumber) and that they couldn't give the breakfast on the house because then everyone could say that they had a bug on their plate and demand a free breakfast. Hmm...needless to say, we will never go there again on future trips to Berlin and have warned others to avoid it as well. Worst service I've ever had at...

Their food is one of the worst one you can find maybe in whole west berlin. You will wait close to 45 mins- 1h, waiters will make you wait even for to be seated for few solid minutes. After close to an hour, you will receive wrong order then some waiter comes to take back the plate they delivered wrong and act like its your fault even though you didn’t touch it and even we tried to say its not our order which they were ignoring us before realizing they messed up😂 Then the food, we ordered their random fried snack box with schnitzel and I am still wondering how skilled (!) anyone can be to make this random simply fried food disgusting. Its just pre made fabrication food to fry and serve, how can you make it so disgusting. The chicken wings had barely any meat and no flavor at all, meatballs drowning in grease and disgusting. And the schnitzel had a full disappointment with less meat more crunch (bland and tasteless) with a disgusting mushroom sauce that should be illegal to serve in any restaurant in the world. After we left we went straight into the first restaurant that comes up to eat since our stomach was traumatized😂 even though we haven’t eaten whole day and extremely hungry, we were disgusted by every bite so that we really couldn’t eat anything. I hardly take time to comment on any restaurant but I only do it when I think their failure needs to be addressed not to traumatize others and help not...

“A big place in the heart of the city”. Visited this pub on the first day we landed at Berlin in Jun 17. The idea was to have some good beer sitting outside the pub. Believe me there is lots of space outside the pub which is mostly occupied by the tourists through out the day. Since we visited in summer it was the most happening place at that time. It did rain sometime and we had to run inside for sometime but it was great being outside the bar. The beer had amazing taste. At the same time I ordered one vegetarian dish which had lots of boiled and lightly sauted veggies with generous amount of hollandaise. They spoke in German and I had a tough time to talk to them directly. Luckily my friend knew German and he helped translating what I had to say. However when I went to this place the last day, I was alone and did not find it difficult to connect with them in English since they understood that I did not know German. They were sure of loosing business If they don't talk to me in English. So this happens at most of the places in Germany. Many of the younger generation wouldn't mind talking to you in English if you initiate.
