I found Raku Ramen to have pretty high ratings and was in desperate need of a nice hot bowl of ramen after having travelled around the US and Europe for 3 weeks.
As I walked into their establishment, the space had a nice, comforting ambience that gave cute touches of Japanese vibes and the staff welcomed my friend and I warmly in English and German which was much appreciated. We were seated efficiently and our orders were quick to arrive.
I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and when it arrived, I was expecting the broth to be a little hotter especially when you want to slurp that first spoonful of soup and feel instantly nourished. Instead, it was pretty lukewarm and the flavor did not have the complexity of a broth boiled for hours. It could also have been a touch less salty. The noodles were al dente, which gave it a nice bite but the dish’s saving grace was the pork. It was DELICIOUS. You could taste some of the char of the fat and it was a nice generous slice that had a good amount of meat to fat ratio.

Read moreWe were looking around at Google to find some decent place to eat and ended up here after alot of good reviews. Ordered tantanmen ramen. The only detail was that it was not a tantanmen, which is supposed to be creamy while this was a regular non creamy-broth.
The broth was not very rich but It did taste ok. However it came with minced pork which was cold (broth was hot but meat was cold). Same with the boiled egg. This was during lunch and it felt like they just took out the condiments from the fridge and dropped it in the bowl, it destroyed the experience a bit with the cold condiments in the soup. Very friendly staff. Prices are very good during lunch but also seem reasonable during...
Read moreWe initially planned to visit another Japanese restaurant nearby, but after being put off there, we stumbled upon Raku — and we’re glad we did.
Looking for a light lunch, we shared a starter and a main between two, along with two mocktails. The chicken teriyaki was juicy and tender, and the mocktails were refreshingly flavorful.
Raku delivers exactly what it promises: a good casual eatery with a solid selection, decent flavors, and reasonable prices. The service was efficient and friendly.
If you’re after a quick, casual bite, we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Bonus tip: they offer a weekday lunch menu that looks like a great deal — though we visited on...
