I dined at Gasthaus Krombach, a charming restoraunt in Berlin. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.
The service at Gasthaus Krombach was nothing short of exceptional. The waitstaff, fluent in English, were not only polite and attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their willingness to engage in thoughtful conversation enhanced the overall dining experience.
As for the culinary delights, I opted for the classic Bratwurst accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and tangy sauerkraut. The Bratwurst was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic German flavors that transported me straight to the heart of Bavaria. The mashed potatoes were heavenly, velvety in texture and rich in taste, while the sauerkraut added a delightful contrast with its sharp, tangy notes.
What truly set Gasthaus Krombach apart was the meticulous attention to detail evident in every aspect of the meal. The presentation was artful, and the portion sizes were generous, ensuring that both my palate and appetite were thoroughly satisfied.
In addition to the delectable cuisine, the restaurant's ambiance exuded a cozy, rustic charm, creating the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable meal. The blend of traditional German decor and contemporary touches created an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings.
In conclusion, Gasthaus Krombach surpassed my expectations on every front. The combination of outstanding service, delectable food, and inviting ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic German dining experience in Berlin. I wholeheartedly recommend Gasthaus Krombach to fellow food enthusiasts and travelers alike, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit to savor more of their...

This was our second visit to this busy Gasthof. There will not be a third.
Despite booking our table 2 days earlier, we ended up in what was effectively the corridor leading to the toilets and a constant stream of staff brushing past to serve tables. Perhaps a foretaste of what was to follow.
We ordered our food - mine was an absolute German staple (Schnitzel und Pommes). What came was like a piece of leather. It was massively overcooked.
After trying to eat the food, because I was hungry and recognising it was not the waiters fault, I politely asked to speak to the manager. I was told there was no manager present. I then asked to speak to the shift supervisor; again no-one was available.
After some discussion between the staff, the waiter told me I would not “get anything” (I assume he meant a discount) because I had eaten half the meal. I hadn’t actually asked for anything - except to speak to someone in charge.
Let me be quite clear. I would have been content with an acknowledgment from someone other than the waiter, that things had gone wrong. I received nothing and no one appeared to care. So I paid the bill and left.
I have read the reviews online; our first visit agrees with the majority posted. The second visit however, was a world away.
My message is clear to all future customers. Keep your...
Read moreI dined at this place with my husband and two nieces two nights ago, having come specifically to have Spätzle. We had walked past this restaurant several times. On this very warm summer evening, at least half the tables were empty in the front dining areas that have large windows and overlook the street. At least two of those tables would have fit a group four, but had the “Reserviert” signs on them. Another two tables could have been pushed together to accommodate 4 guests. But we were led straight to a far table at the back dining room, where there were no other guests. Was that because we were with a child and a teenager? In a little while, a group of three, from what it seemed, tourists were seated at the table next to us. They seemed taken aback by their table as well; even slightly more tucked away than we were.
For my young nieces’ sake, I decided we will stay. We dined quickly and left. I even still left a tip. As we left, the tables with the “Reserviert” signs were still vacant.
Even though we received a quick service and the food was okay, I did not have the experience I had expected. Despite the old-time ambiance, the atmosphere regarding the guests was...
