Biergarten Jockel — Restaurant in Berlin

I honestly recommend to avoid this place - it's basically a large size kiosk - where beer and food is average-tasting and overpriced for Kreuzberg.

Most importantly: don't even think of using the space for private parties - even though the location's got a lot of potential - the owner and his staff make the place unusable for parties: I made the big mistake of organising my wedding party there and it was a nightmare: just as the party started the owner tried to rip me off asking for extra money. Bar staff was not there when we needed them - only one toilet worked so guys and girls had to share the same toilet. And the staff kicked everybody out 11PM.

Sorry to rant but I just wanted to share this to make sure people think twice before booking the space...

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere and vibe. As long as everyone minds their own business, it’s fine. Honestly, it feels like an oversized Späti with overpriced everything. • Food: Okayish at best — works as finger food for drinks, but nothing more. Definitely not worth the price. • Service: Basically self-service, so nothing to highlight there. • Prices: On the higher side for what you get. • Safety: Since it’s next to Görlitzer Park, I wouldn’t recommend staying too late — the surroundings get pitch dark. • Payment: The one big plus — they accept card payments, which is rare and convenient.

Overall: A decent spot for early summer evenings while it’s still light, but not somewhere I’d go out...

Worst beer garden experience ever. While the service is friendly and courteous (therefore the one star), it's overrun with screaming children. It's near the water yes, but any view you would have is completely blocked by the playground. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was utter chaos. You couldn't even sit at your table and drink a beer without a pack wild children darting through the tables "mom can I have some ice cream, Johnny hit me, waaaaah!"
