at kottbusserdamm shop, an impatient and rude lady at the service, or better said, she thought that we are at her service: impatient sighs as we didn't ordered immediately after entering and said we would first have a look at many options they have that looked so inviting. we DID ASK IF WE COULD eat inside, bcs for us it was cold outside and we wouldn't have had our breakfast outside. She said "yes of course". Again arrogant loud repeating, as i didn't understand what amount i had to pay. after the moment we paied she said we should go out bcs the small shop gets full with other people. we didn't obviously. As we stand there and had our order the italian dude-colleague, which didn't know german asked her in italian what was the matter with us, and she said just the part of story convenient to her, that is omitting the part where she gave us the ok to have our order inside, just saying that we insisted on not going out and they both cursed loudly indirectly at us, all this in italian obviously, thinking we don't understand it. Additionally in this gang-game we heard comments of her italian clients occasionally came in without knowing the whole story and side for her talking loudly "... it is not cold at all out there", under our ears, to make the space uncomfortable for us. all that obviously in italian. the croissant with crema pasticcera was good and authentic, but that with pistacio creme: it wasn't hausmade pistacio creme as they stand for it, it was the sort of pistacio creme you would find in bottle with palm oil or margarin. both were very...
Read moreI finally found the Roman-style custard cornetto in Berlin... but in a Sicilian cafe. Here are my personal ratings, they are based on my taste. Espresso 9+/10 - typical Italian, no fancy fruity hipster coffee in this cafe. Cornetto: pastry 9+/10 (hmm!!), custard cream 8/10 (has a whiff that doesn't belong to my taste). Chocolate chip ricotta lobster: 10++/10 - you MUST order it, very fresh and crunchy, and the chocolate melts in your mouth with the ricotta hmm!! Arancine: light oily crust -well made but not hmm!!- 8/10; filling: authentic ragu 8++/10 (unfortunately I only tasted the one with ragu see below 🙂 ). Service: I was sure to give 10/10 -all staff was friendly and helpful- but at home, I found out they didn't give me the "arancine" I ordered: 8--/10. Basically, unless you live in Italy near a great cafe, if you want a great espresso with great fresh, non-laboratory pastries you should take a bike, a motorcycle or a plane and come to this...
Read moreI was there at Saturday at 15:00 and they were mostly sold out of pastries/sweets. Since they are open till 20:00 I guess they could be prepared for weekend a bit better to have something sweet also for customers which can't come early. I guess it wasn't the best timing for my first visit of this place, probably I'll try one more time. Nutellosa coffee was good but very small and extremely sweet (I would say that crumbs on top are not needed). I menage to catch some ricotta pastry and it was fine but I guess ricotta could be a bit sweeter. I do belive that this place have authentic Italian sweets which I love so much but I didn't find...
