Clandestino | Tapasbar & Weinhandel — Restaurant in Berlin

Honestly I never write reviews but one of the worst experiences ever! We have booked a table in advance for 7:30pm, but when we turned up at the place it was basically full. They had a free table for 3 ppl (we were a party of three) but they told us that it was booked for someone else and they didn’t see our booking so we should wait at the bar until a table where four people was sitting becomes available. They told us this should be very soon since they were about to leave. We were disappointed but sat down at the bar for one drink to see and wait. In the meantime two girls walked in without a reservation and the staff told them they could sit at the free table for a bit. This was extremely frustrating, but ok let’s wait for the bigger table to become available. I ordered a negroni and one of my friends an Aperol spritz, both cocktails were pretty bad, like if someone without qualifications made it for the first time. While we were sipping our drinks, the table which was supposed to leave got a massive platter or food delivered. Then we were asked to move from the bar because the two girls who walked in and got the free table had to move as well as the other group who booked arrived. At this point we thought this was a joke so we decided to leave. And after this they had the audacity to charge us for those drinks… Extremely disappointing, very very poor...

Food is ok, nothing special.

Service was not very friendly; nothing too bad but not flexible at all and neutral. Like, no smile, no caring. kind of made us feel like we were not being served for a nice dinner, rather we were a not very welcomed guest somewhere.

Also, we wanted to order a “mix-tapas” plate and learned that we would not what we are getting. Maybe some people like the surprise element in it, for us this was very strange.

Why would you not know what you’re ordering? What if there’s just one item you’re allergic to or you absolutely detest? I feel like a mix-plate should have the flexibility to offer options that you know and you can choose.

I have been there in winter before. Inside is very cozy and nice; outside though, lots of cars passing by loudly because of the cobblestone street. You have to shout a bit...

Tapas are just ok. Very overpriced if im being honest. The atmosphere is cool. The service was baaad. You wait fairly long for food that's basically just cut: salami/ tomatoes/ cheese (nothing cooked so we didn't understand how does it take so long for it). There was a confusion with our order since our bread got given to a table that ordered after us. We initially felt bad for the server bc it seemed she's just a victim of bad management/ understaffed / but after we didn't leave a tip for the "stellar" service, she just rudely turned her back on us, without even saying goodbye. It speaks for itself when the highlight of the dinner is the bottle of wine, that they just buy elsewhere... Didn't feel welcome, wouldn't...
