It's a modern stylish, small place that I've been walking by for a long time.
Finally decided to give it a shot, and we only had one group that was already sat ahead of us. However the restaurant has only one lady in the kitchen and one taking orders/running food.
I ordered their big mix as well as another plate of mixed dumplings, and things were off to a good start. Unfortunately things turned sour pretty quickly, as we had to wait 30 minutes for our food to arrive, which consisted of a soup, kimchi, cucumber salad, and 12 dumplings.
I assume every one of those items is pre-made and just needs to be heated up or plated, so a 30 minute wait for something this simple, that we thought was going to take 5-10 minutes of waiting made me very reluctant to want to come back.
Unfortunately the food did not live up to the expectation either, as the dumplings, the main event, we're pretty forgettable with only the beef one having any kind of real flavour.
I personally feel given the price, and the fact that they have just three types of dumplings overall, these should have packed a little bit more punch and love.
The pumpkin soup was just okay, nothing special, kimchi was as expected and the cucumber salad was just cucumbers and soy sauce.
To make matters worse, it seems like they were preparing some delivery orders before ours at the 25 minute waiting mark, which did not help our vibe.
When the food was finally plated and ready to go, the server promptly walked right past me and my friend to the outside and proceeded to ask every single table out there if this was their order...
It seemed she somehow forgit we existed, even though for 30 minutes we were sitting right in front of her inside the restaurant and kept looking back at her and the kitchen in anticipation...
Grab dumplings somewhere else for cheaper and...
Read moreI had high hopes for Dirty Dumplings, but overall, the experience was a bit underwhelming. The atmosphere was definitely a highlight—stylish, lively, and with a great vibe that makes it a cool spot to hang out. However, when it comes to the food, I was left disappointed.
The dumplings themselves were not necessarily bad, but they lacked variety in flavor. No matter which ones I tried, they all kind of tasted the same, without any standout filling or seasoning. On top of that, the food was noticeably salty, which overpowered any subtleties that might have been there. I enjoy bold flavors, but this just felt like too much.
For the price, I expected something more special. While I understand that unique dining experiences often come at a higher cost, the quality and taste didn’t quite justify the price tag. I left feeling like I had paid more for the atmosphere than for the actual food, which isn’t what I was hoping for.
If you’re looking for a trendy place with a nice vibe, it might be worth checking out for the experience. But if you’re after truly outstanding dumplings with distinct and balanced flavors, this might not be the best choice. Personally, I...
Read moreI walked by this place every day for like a month excitingly waiting for it to open. I think there used to be another kimono shop here and I think a cute little restaurant is way better fit for the neighborhood.
The dumplings are good, but the portion is very small. €8.50 for five dumplings leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you’re looking to eat an actual meal. We were very hungry after.
The allure of fresh dumplings sounds great, but the dumplings didn’t taste like they were actually freshly made - more like they were made that morning or afternoon, and then just resteamed on the spot, which is kind of underwhelming.
Also, it would be great if the vegan dumplings on the menu were not listed as vegetarian when they actually are vegan - I think it will push a lot of the vegan people away who are too shy to ask.
I’m really curious how this place will improve and hope I can bump up my rating overtime but right now it just didn’t hit the spot and I have a bad feeling they won’t be able to pay their bills in the long run with this price model. However, I fully support that Asian restaurants should not be just cheap and quick as many in Berlin tend to...
