Fabelei is an experience and a remarkable one. For starters the service is splendid. Each person of the team will engage with you whilst ensuring that you are taken care of. The team actually went out of their way to host us post their closing hours because we were excited to try the drinks. Additionally, gave us a unique list of things to do in Berlin which we’re really grateful for. The list definitely made our trip worth it! If the welcoming atmosphere isn’t enough for you then the tasteful decor and delightful cocktails shall definitely draw you in! We were rather confused about what to order because everything on the menu is amazing. The bartender came to the rescue! He was kind enough to take note of our preferences and curate drinks especially for us. Both the drinks left us in a happy high. He also made us taste other liquors and spirits they have specifically curated. Which was a wonderful experience and we learned so much! I am not a drink guy at all. I love and care so much about food, but I neither care much for alcohol, nor for sweet sodas etc. Basically I just drink water. And still, going here with friends, I took one of the alcohol-free cocktails and it was absolutely excellent! Very well balanced, not too sweet, a nice spiciness of the ginger, one of the best drinks I ever had (even if I didn't have that many). The ambience is very nice and relaxed. The service was fantastic, our waiter was extremely friendly and polite. We all took just one drink, but we could stay the whole evening and it was no problem at all. In fact, instead of them trying to thirst you out into buying more, you get free water and always get it refilled. Very recommended for those more interested in drinking than me, but also as a recommendation if you go out with friends even though you aren't a big fan...

Under new management? New service personnel?

We have been here several times in the past and had great cocktails and wonderful service. We were there the other night to celebrate with friends and the service was awful.

On our arrival we told the service personnel that our group would likely exceed the size we had reserved for. We were repeatedly told that this was a problem. Eventually we were nine instead of six. At that point we were told that we could stay if each person ordered a minimum of three cocktails during the two hour period that our reservation was valid for.

A reservation is an estimate of group size and any establishment I know of is aware of that and deals with any changes in a service minded fashion. This was far from polite. We were not welcome from the moment we stepped in the door!
