After my first time in this place having breakfast with my son; frustration was the feeling I left with. We went there to have a dose of Home, Turkey. It is owned by Turkish people, and menu carries Turkish dishes. Unfortunately, that was all; our cultural values were not practiced there. We Turks have bread/pastry and Turkish tea along with the breakfast at the same time, but they served bread and tea first, and rest of the breakfast arrived half an hour later. Both tea and bread were already cold then. A little annoyed, I went up to the owner, and shared my thoughts on the order of the serving. She got defensive right away and said that we should have mentioned that we wanted the tea with the breakfast! I smiled and said; I assumed that you present and provide Turkish traditions here?! Couple of minutes later she came to our table and offered me "hot tea" and I accepted. When paying the bill I saw that she has charged me for that offer! It is widely common, and practiced in Turkish restaurants and cafes, even in Germany, both coffee and tea are always offered after the meal, on the house. Now; she is not going to get rich with 2.5 Euro and I will not be broke paying that extra. And yet; neither me nor my son, and people who are looking for a fully Turkish environment, including gestures, traditions and values; will not go there. By the way; portions were extremely small and...
Read moreA great experience for tourists who want to experience Turkish breakfast culture without going to Turkey. However, quite bland and very expensive compared to the original Turkish cuisine. The toasted bread and tea should always be brought with the breakfast so that they don't get cold by the time you are ready to eat. They were brought earlier, and when we explained this afterwards, they brought another one with the breakfast - and charged extra. In Turkish culture for something as cheap and effortless as Turkish tea, it should be included with the food, or the second one should be a compliment on the house. For someone who was born and raised in Turkey, it was quite disappointing that I had to explain this. The owner also had this carefree attitude, and it was quite obvious she did not like or care about the criticism. This can also be seen from the cynical replies given to the negative comments. The food however,...
Read moreThe food variety could be more especially because they cater people for special occasions and as a Turkish person I know we have more to offer. The first waitress she was gorgeous very friendly, helpful and kind. For example I wanted to switch some of my food for Dolma and she agreed on it easily. I forgot her name unfortunately because it has been a few weeks now but she is from Türkiye and has an accent. Her co workers were the worst except for the owner - he was also very friendly - the others were ignoring you all the time, we had to wait long times to order some drinks, they were not friendly at all, the cashier (a German one I would guess) she wasn’t even looking at us as we were paying or didn’t even reply although we were very friendly the whole time she didn’t even care to thank also or say goodbye. The last time I have been to this place...
