I visited on a Sunday morning. My friend had arrived earlier and already grabbed a table, but by the time I got there, there was already a long line of people waiting. Definitely seems like the kind of place you need to come early for if you’re planning weekend brunch. I had the Eggs Benny (two poached eggs on brioche toast with fresh Hollandaise sauce) and added smoked salmon. The taste was overall decent—nothing too extraordinary, but satisfying. What really stood out was how friendly the staff were. Even though the place was quite busy and they seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, they still remained kind and attentive. We did have to wait a little when ordering and paying, but it was understandable. Still, the overall atmosphere was lovely, and it’s a nice spot to enjoy brunch with friends...

This place offers a good variety of homemade cakes and fresh food (excellent eggs Benedict). If the service improved it could become a great place - Unfortunately they seem to be more interested in talking amongst themselves or being with their friends when they come visit than in taking care of their customers. As a result you need to be patient and expect to wait long times for the menu, ordering or paying, even when just a couple of tables are occupied and three staff stand idly at the bar.

In addition they seem to now close at 20:00 instead of 00:00 as stated here. The staff were not able to explain why and whether this was just temporary, but I hope they go back to their old extended...

Came here for the shakshuka after reading the positive reviews; however, when I arrived in the evening I was told that this was only on the breakfast menu. I asked staff for recommendations and was told to try the Rinder Gulasch. What a pleasant surprise this was! The beef and potatoes were well cooked and the portion was just perfect. Staff spoke English very well and was very welcoming and friendly. I sat outdoors and enjoyed the nice cool breeze while having my meal. Their homemade lemonade was refreshing with an even balance of sourness and sweetness. Card payment is also available here which is great as many places in Berlin...

Great food, equally great prices and friendly and helpful staff. Perhaps the best eggs benny I ever had. And they don't play when it comes to extra bacon, more than worth the upcharge. The meal was quite large so do come hungry and the salad on the side was delectable and helped ease the heaviness of the eggs benny on brioche bread. Personally I would prefer it if the brioche was a little less sweet, but the meal was delicious nonetheless. The coffee was nice, too. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in Berlin! Piece of advice: do reserve a table beforehand as it does get quite busy. Thank you dear Mattea staff!
