We arrived at the time of our reservation and we were taken at the table within 10-15'. The order and service of food was very satisfied. The food is tasty but pretty expensive for the size. E.g. other famous brunch restaurants in Mitte, Prezlauer Berg charge between 10-12 euros for a french toast and they have at least two slices of toast in comparison to this restaurant which costs 14 euro and the French toast is only one slice. The place was clean and decent. Coffee, iced americano was good. Unfortunately they also charge the water which comes in a carafe (3 Euro) however the water tasted as filtered not tap. The negative feedback goes to the person in charge who was pretty impolite asking us to leave the table due to a next reservation. I had made a reservation online via the site at 12:00. We were taken at our table at 12:15 We had just finished our food at 13:10, still had coffee in the glass to finish and with an aggresive way he came telling us that we need to leave because of the next reservation waiting already... I told him that this is not nice from his side since the reservation was clearly mentioning that the table is up to 2 hours (from my side i was not planning to stay 2 hours but i simply wanted to finish my coffee) and it was his problem to solve if he placed the next reservation in just 1 hour space. He said that if we do not stand and leave he will call the police. I asked him why he doesn't ask the same from the table next to us who were placed there earlier than us and his reply was, i am in charge of the place if You do not leave i will call the police. To make a long story short he reimbursed our order just to make us leave (since he knew that calling the police wouldn't solve his problem short term) but honestly, his behaviour was one if the worst ever seen for a place that it is supposed to offer "premium"...
Read moreWow. Lives up to the hype. TLTR, get the Chicken & Waffle.
Was VERY impressed by the chicken & waffle (“Chicken 3000”). I’ve had a good amount of chicken & waffle dishes throughout USA and in Europe and this has been the BEST BY FAR. I’m still thinking about this dish 24 hours later. Chicken was incredibly moist and tender and thick. They didn’t skimp on the chicken. The honey maple syrup was absolutely delicious and they gave a tremendous amount (but it didn’t drench the waffle) - a hint of spicy but it’s JUST a hint which helps elevate the flavor. I’m usually not a huge fan of the waffle in this type of dish but the waffle here was good. It held its structure and didn’t get soggy from the honey maple syrup. The lettuce on top was delicious as well. Honestly, had no complaints on this dish and would get it again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would ask is for the syrup to be on the side cause there was so much of it. It’s very filling and rich but I didn’t feel sick after eating it. Superb.
Crème brûlée French toast. Really good but wouldn’t get it again. Love how the brioche was super moist and tender (could cut it with a spoon with ease), side cream super light, sauce on the bottom gave a nice tangy flavor that countered the sweetness. It tasted more like a cake than French toast. No complaints but you should expect to it more as dessert than an entree.
Winter Special Duck & Waffle. It’s like the chicken & waffle but with duck instead of chicken. Duck was moist and fall of the bone tender but slightllyyyy dry. Would definitely recommend the chicken & waffle over this duck dish. But still very good.
Latte. excellent.
Staff is amazingly professional and polite to tourists along with the locals. Which was very much appreciated. Loved how they take our coats to hang in a separate room. Clean...
Read moreI was excited to try Frühstück 3000 as it comes across as a trendy lunch place. I have high expectations given the high price tag. We ordered four dishes for three persons since we're eager to try more. Everything was pretty well executed, except the waffle of the "Chicken 3000" dish was a little bit too soggy but I enjoyed it.
When it comes to the payment, I politely declined to tip on the credit card machine. The staff member who took our payment (not the same one who served us before) then brought us an empty cover, which seemed aggressive. As we were ready to leave, the same staff member got up and immediately opened the cover to check (also leaving a sour taste). After we were out of the restaurant, we were chased and yelled at "if you go to the next restaurant, tip is not included!" – confusing message but the aggression is clear.
I usually tip when a restaurant exceeds my expectations – and in this case the restaurant meets my expectations, especially the high price. The service is alright, borderline a bit excessive in asking whether the food are alright (5 times). Having just left the USA I'm so tired of the tipping culture and my understanding is that tipping is discretionary here. If they are expecting American-style tipping here, probably provide some free tap water and have the same staff member throughout. I don't even know whether tips are divided between servers and/or the kitchen staff. Either raise your price or add a service charge and make it clear, instead of taking it negatively with your customers.
The otherwise plesant experience is ruined by one staff member unfortunately, and I won't return again even though I just moved to the area (and live...
