I have been coming to this restaurant every time I visit Berlin because I have appreciated the good food and nice service. Today the experience was very different. Salad traditionally served to most meals literally consisted only of letuce (95%), one single slice of cucumber, one piece of tomato, a small dice of orange and two halves of one peanut, that's it, without any dressing, any dizze of oli, no marinate... Since I have been coming to this restaurant I know what the salade should look like. I remarked it to the waiter, he took it and he brought back literally THE SAME THING in composition with a bit of dressing. When the waiter asked afterwards if it was ok, I actually mentioned that it was not. The kitchen staff brought then another salad at the point when I was almost ready to pay. I left all the salads (= letuce), paid my entire bill ( no tipping of course which used to do in the past) and the only thing I heard from the waiter was: have a nice weekend at the end... LOL PS I also ordered a Caipirinha before the meal. It came with lemon, not lime, cut in pieces but not squeezed (I took the pieces out and squeezed them myself with fingers....), sugar was not at all disolved so the drink tasted like water with alcohol on ice). I do not recommend thé restaurant anymore (to be really avoided on a busy day like today because it is clear that then they take shortcuts...) Issues with food happen and sometimes cannot be avoided but the restaurant staff in the way they act and communciate should be able to make up for operatinal shorcomings to leave a client who is willing to come back. This...
Read moreHad a nice experience with good food and drinks for 10 of us. The place is big and can accommodate such groups if required. We went there without any reservation, though a little early in the evening. However, it is recommended to reserve in advance for any such groups gatherings. Meat platter and other starters are nice. Their in house cocktails are also nice. Staff is attentive, though busy and checks on you to not loose your experience. There are 3 other Amrits in Berlin and they all seem to be fairly similar in concept and service. I have been here many times, though I feel they take better care of customers who dine there when compared to those who would like to take away. Otherwise in general, good is always good and portion sizes are fairly big, if I may say so. I have also had some lunch menus on weekdays and that's like the best deal you could get out there giving you a good feeling about being value for money. Way...
Read moreI will give 4 stars instead of 5, and I’ll explain why.
First of all, the food is nice. I like it, and I like Indian food. Even if it’s a little expensive in the restaurant, the quality and service were good.
But here’s the thing: when I was paying, I didn’t give any extra tip. I don’t think that’s required. The guy was friendly at first, but as soon as I didn’t leave, say, a 10% tip, he literally ignored me. He turned his face away and left quickly. I could see from his face that he was very angry. I felt like I made a big mistake or maybe said something wrong.
Even when I said “Have a nice weekend” to him, he just looked at me without reacting.
I don’t want to name this worker because I don’t want to cause trouble for him. He should keep his job. But please, if someone doesn’t leave an extra tip, that’s fine. Don’t get angry. Tip is nice but It’s not...
