Mercosy — Restaurant in Berlin

The location is small but nice and the service is also friendly and lovely. Short menu choices are intended to offer only fresh food. Those are the good things.

Unfortunately I was expecting a traditional Korean food so that I was surprised when I discovered that the food is served on the classic hot stone pot only if you play 1,50 euro extra Also side dishes, really important for bibimbap, are not included if you don't ask for them. The waitress didn't tell us so that we were again surprised.

The Bibimbap's taste was ok (that's why I give 3 stars) but nothing special especially compared to other Korean restaurants. It's probably because of what I wrote before or because the staff in the kitchen were western. Anyway you can find better Korean...

I ordered the Bibimbap crispy pork belly. It tasted as if my four year old child insisted on making dinner and we played along. She took the bacon I burned this morning and all the leftovers from last night's salad then mixed it together with an egg my wife wouldn't eat because I overcooked it. Then she took random herbs and "generously" (for a four year old) poured un-supervised amounts of everything... and I mean everything she found over the top. I made it through that layer before my mouth simply said "no". Well, I am giving 2 stars because I realise your four year old, or younger child, made this meal and he / she deserves 2 stars for the effort, but is simply too young to run a restuarant. If I knew an adult made it my review would be a little...

I had to wait quite a while before being attended to at my table, which was a bit disappointing. The woman who eventually served me was very kind, though — maybe they were short-staffed?

The drinks and food arrived quickly, but unfortunately the quality didn’t match the speed. The egg was overcooked, the kimchi was very watery, and the sea beans side dish was unevenly salted — way too much in some bites, none in others. It was also completely raw; even a quick blanch would’ve helped. The overall meal felt quite dry.

I came to Mercosy because of the high ratings on Google, but honestly, I suspect those are a reflection of better days. The service was kind, but the food was average to...
