Monkey Bar — Restaurant in Berlin

Do not go to this bar unless you enjoy being ignored and lectured while drinking less than mediocre cocktails.

Really poorly made cocktails and served in wrong glasses. You'd expect a better experience with such prices. I drank 4 glasses of the same cocktail and it tasted different each time.

Terrible service and rude staff. At least our waitress was the worst I've ever encountered.

We arrived after work and drank a few cocktails. At some point we went to the balcony for a minute to check the view out, and the waitress came running after us with the check even though our stuff was still at our table. Nervously, she read our balance out loud without saying anything else. We said we're going back to our table, but she insisted that we pay so we did and still tipped her. She started lecturing us "you know in Berlin and in bars generally you need to pay when you leave your table, you can't believe how many people run away and you looked like you're running away" and she kept going on about it until I asked her to please calm down and leave us alone. To run away from there, we literally need to jump off of their 10th floor balcony. Then we went back to our table and ordered more cocktails. From that moment on we were her enemy. She would ignore us, make a weird face when we try to order again and go to take other orders, harass us by asking "don't you want to pay", etc. I also realized that she was polite with Germans and rude with tourists She could very well be carrying a neon sign "we don't want non German speakers here". An average Berlin bar with a gimmick that doesn't work.

We saw an ad for this and it sounded really cool so we wanted to check it out while visiting Berlin. However it was not a great experience.

The apps and drinks were ok. They sound fancy but honestly they're just alright. Typical big city: make it look and sound fancy but it's just average food.

The cocktails were the highlight, that's for sure.

The service was really bad though. We were able to find a seat quickly which was nice, and the server did come bring us menus fairly quickly, but it took a very long time for him to take our order. It also took a long time to get 4 cocktails as well. Our server didn't even deliver them, he was standing outside nearby and had someone else bring them. Not very personable.

Finally there is the view, which is what they advertise. The Monkey exhibit is only visible on one side of the building. Unfortunately there were no seats on that side available and it only covers about 1/5tg off the seating space. Also on our visit there was nothing going on in the exhibit so there wasn't much of a view.

Overall I would not recommend this bar. Go to one with nicer food and drinks and or a better view of the city. Berlin has a TON of better bars, restaurants, and clubs. This doesn't do enough nor have the quality...

This place is a JOKE. I stood at the bar, on a Monday evening, alone, for twenty minutes. The five bar staff were too busy hugging each other and taking selfies to take my order. Finally one of them (Alessa) noticed me, and it took me five attempts to communicate my very simple order of four drinks (I tried in both German and English). She looked at me with contempt, and took my payment. She then proceeded to take someone else’s order, and make their drink, then do the same again. I have still not got the drinks I paid for. Do not come here if you value actually getting the drinks you have paid for, or getting any kind of service. Totally overhyped and full of people too busy taking photos of themselves to notice that their drinks haven’t arrived.

Update: the drinks finally arrived half an hour later (at the wrong end of the bar, made by a different person), and I spotted three of the bar staff laughing at me, because I had dared to ask where my drinks were. One of them them looked me in the eyes, and shouted at me “you can leave if you want to”. Yes, I would like to leave. I would also like the drinks I ordered from your feckless colleague half an hour ago, and I would also have liked to have been treated with respect and courtesy, as a polite regular customer of the hotel,...
