Ocak Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

We were in the area and came across this restaurant. We weren't expecting anything amazing here. It's a restaurant connected to a hotel but we were pleasantly surprised.

They have an extensive menu that could be considered western food. We had the Caesar salad, which was decent but it definitely wasn't a Caesar dressing. It was more of a Dijon mustard base but still pretty good! The chicken was tender, the lettuce was fresh and the croutons crunchy.

For mains, we ordered the cheeseburger - it was the definition of simple done really well. The party was juicy and really tasted like a homemade burger. The fries were perfect! We also had the chicken pasta in tomato sauce. It hit the spot just right. Drenched in sauce, slightly spicy and full of deep flavors.

Staff were super friendly and spoke English. They have indoor and outdoor seating and accept card payments.

The food is ok, but the service was absolutely horrendous. The waitresses (who double as reception staff) were taking forever to come take our order, then proceeded to take equally long to come back and tell us they don't have what we ordered... long story short, our dinner lasted a total of 4 hours (!) until we paid. Very clueless and untrained personnel, who only speaks Turkish fluently - communication in English or German was difficult. To top it all off, when it was time to pay, they realized they didn't have the order in their system, and we had to repeat everything from start to...

Im Ocak war es sehr witzig. So Anfang/Mitte Dezember hatte ich einen Tisch für Ende Januar bestellt. Diese Reservierung um 10 Uhr wurde auch bestätigt. Als wir um 10 Uhr da waren, wurden wir ganz komisch angeschaut. Mittlerweile hatten sich nämlich die Öffnungszeiten geändert und eigentlich geht’s erst um 11:30 Uhr los. Nach kurzer Verwirrung hat man uns dann aber gesagt, dass man uns nicht wegschicken würde und wir uns einen Platz aussuchen können. Die Einrichtung war relativ schlicht und unspektakulär. Dann haben wir die Karte bekommen und ich wollte unbedingt die Pancakes essen. Als wir dann unsere Bestellung aufgenommen wurde, dachte ich, dass unser Kellner gleich in Tränen ausbrechen würde, weil es gab auch eine neue Karte, wo nur eine Sache runtergenommen wurde und was sollte es anderes sein, als die Pancakes. Ich hab mich dann für ein Avocadobrot entschieden und das war optisch sehr schön angerichtet und geschmacklich gab es auch nichts zu meckern. Der Latte Macchiato war auch genau nach meinem Geschmack, schön mild. Am Ende hat man uns noch einen türkischen Tee angeboten, aber wir waren gut gesättigt...
