Rhinoçéros — Restaurant in Berlin

Berlin gives a wide choice for a good night out, but THIS is one perfect place if what you are looking for is to enjoy a quality drink, sitting comfortably in a cosy space, in pleasent company (and this includes the staff working there)! Warning: this review is not here to tell Rhinoçeros how good they are: the mere fact that this small young jazz bar is already being reserved by locals and friends (old and new) is the real award for the good work. But being a regular myself, I feel the need to protect it, like you would with the noble endangered animal. So if you plan a visit to this gem of a place, be sure you check out this conditions: take time: it’s so good you will want to stay a while. it’s not a place for bar hopping. it’s a place for a good bottle of Heartbreaker at the fire place, or a good whisky sour chatting at the bar. it’s a location for quality time. Enjoy the sound! seriously, you can’t find better sound in a bar. mainly jazz (althought I adore when Bene plays Battisti, who is kind of jazz l think..) played on vinyl and through 1976 wooden speakers that are an elegant and decisive mark of the space. Tell you what, take your favourite album with you, talk to Martina and you might end up listening to it. Try the cheese! or the charcuterie! oh and do a favour to yourself and order a nice bottle of Franciacorta! You are not in Rhino to simply spend your evening, but to celebrate it! So don’t think about thirst, or to have a coffee or a cola to wake up, but decide according to taste and desire! (and leave the schorle for the späti..) Check out the listening events, I met some really nice people there. And talk to Bene, Martina, their passion and the staff’s is part of why you’ll leave the place happy. I came to this bar with my boyfriend by a recommendation. It was almost full except for two seats by the door on the bar stools. Near to these stools a large dog was calmly lying on the floor. The following dialogue happened when I asked to take those seats: Can we take these seats? I prefer not to serve this area because of the dog. You don’t want to seat us here and serve us drinks because there is a dog there? Yes, if you know what I mean. No, I don’t understand you. Nevermind.

We left. I was a really weird situation. I will probably try to come again, but hate this kind of unfriendly behaviour from “listening...

The only bar in the whole city that I'm interested in and coming back to. Just the best in sound, calm but intriguing, with quality drinks too. It's the kind of place that I could come to with a friend, for a date, a meeting from work, my family, or just by myself to think in peace and enjoy the marvelous sound of vintage Altec A7's. The whole place is a precious child brought to You by attention and effort given by the owner, and it shows, You can certainly feel it and when You choose to come in here You ought to respect it. So please, keep Your voice low, let Yourself be calmed by l'ambiance, let the music...
