Went on a Friday around 5:30pm and there was only one other table seated. Ambiance is lovely and relaxing. Service was okay. They forgot my water and mostly left me alone.

Ordered the Ferdos plate (€14), which was flavourful, but the sauce ratio was lacking. The falafel, lamb patty, and burgal were on the dry side, which is fine since it was full of flavour, but there should be more sauce to balance it out. I asked for more of the hummus and yogurt sauce, which they gave me a generous portion of, but I had to pay an extra €2 for both. You also only get one piece of each item so not sure why it was so expensive. Also tried the yogurt drink (Laban? €3) which paired well with the food.

I ordered the whipped yogurt dessert to go, which was an awful idea. That should not be offered for take out. The packaging had a very loose lid the the whipped yogurt melted before I got home and spilt all over me. That was the only dessert that’s made in house which is why I wanted to try it. It was €4 and not worth it given the small amount and poor packaging.

Total for a full course meal for one came to €23. Glad I got to try Iraqi cuisine, but I would not go back given the portion size and imbalance of dry texture to sauce ratio.

Worth trying once, but come with friends and share some plates so it’s...

We recently visited Salamat during our family/friends trip to Berlin. After visiting the Bradenberg Gate we were on the lookout for the an amazing dinner place. While there were a lot of amazing choices, we were really craving Middle Eastern food . We made reservations as this place gets really busy. We made the 30-minute trek along the Spree River to Salamat. The place had outside seating and inside seating is quite small. We were seated outside on a beautiful evening. After our regular orders of drinks, one item on the menu caught our eye - The Bagdad Plate. This can be used a starter for 4 people or a main course meal for 2. There is also a non-vegetarian meal option but we settled on the Bagdad Plate. It consists of Tabule, Mutabel, Falafel, Hummus, Kartoffein+Makkali(Fried vegetables refined with wild thyme) + Pastille(Puff Pastry rolls filled with sheep's cheese, spinach). The food was so filling and extremely tasty. Every dish seemed like it was made to perfection and with love. As we took a bite off each of the dishes, we had a sense of satisfaction. This is a place to go for vegetarians . You will not be disappointed. Enjoy the beautiful ambience of the restaurant...

25.01.2023 Upgrading my review to 5 ⭐ after another fantastic experience. Yes, it's not a fancy place with super cool architecture, but it's authentic!

25.08.2022 Recommend Machlame ✨ The staff is super friendly, nice and accommodative. 🧡 Also the outside seating atmosphere is really cool, chill and vibrant in summer.

15.05.2022 I've been to Salamat 50+ times during the past 7 yrs. They have kept the quality absolutely consistent; you can order the same food and every time it's delicious and well-cooked. The staff are friendly and cheerful. As for food, I recommend the Ferdos plate and Bamiya, and Orientmix for drinks. Their Yugi tea is also very tasty 😋 Are you a vegetarian? Then go for Babylon 👌 They accept cash and...

Very friendly place and really nice food. We went for the shared mixed platter for 30E for two and platter was the exact term. 2 platters in fact - a cold one and a hot one with cooked veggies and a bit of delicious beef. The flat bread was amazing. Very nice middle Eastern food with a nice fresh and minty taste. My only slight gripe was that I make better falafel. These were a bit dry and over fried. I tend to make mine with courgette to make them a little less dense. However there was plenty to choose from and one indifferent part of a huge platter of food hardly distracted. The restaurant also sells alcohol and some great local teas fresh ginger and lemon included. We were very comfortable here. Not posh but tidy and friendly.
