Serrano Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

Bad food, bad service, bad ambience & seriously over-priced - one wonders why this place has ANY good reviews? - Went with a group of several friends and we were all incredibly underwhelmed by both food, service, and ambiance. The prices are justified by absolutely nothing. By the way, our group included: One Peruvian, one person who grew up in Peru and two who visited Peru leaving two persons knowing not much about Peruvian food and who are now likely to think that Peruvian cuisine is one of the most over-sold cuisines in the universe (hopefully: if it were not for the protests of those in the party knowing much better). Going along with a latently aggressive waitress, under-par drinks (aperitifs were served after the starters!!), and a really uncomfortable atmosphere, this is positively one of the most horrible places I visited in months. So let's revisit the initial sentence: one wonders why this place has ANY good reviews? - Probably not that much of a surprise after all - I learned from a German friend that the owners had managed to suppress her negative (but very factual) review on a different forum, so they seem to radically go against any negative feedback. At the same time, they seem to also have been on some German tv show. O my - had I known before I went... Too late to erase the mistakes of the past but I will certainly never show my face in here again and even less so put my money the table. Suggest everyone else does the same. (P.S. Just accept that Berlin is not ready yet for an exciting and even half-baked authentic ethnic cuisine. Stick to European fare if you want...

Negative reviews seem to disappear quickly. I give this restaurant one star as the food is overpriced for what you get. Portions are small and I have had far better Peruvian food in Berlin for 1/3 of what we paid. The service was also bad. We were seated right by the noisy kitchen so I could not have a conversation with my partner over the loud blenders and bells. The kitchen light was also sharp and glaring creating a very unromantic atmosphere. We asked to be moved since we wanted to be able to hear one another, but was told it is not possible. We then ask for our order to be cancelled seconds after placing it so we can go somewhere else, but was told we would have to pay if we want to leave as the order has all ready been placed. We stood our ground an eventually they did move us which was great, but our drinks only arrived after we had finished our starters and portions were so small we left hungry (and 150 Euro poorer.) I really don't understand the good reviews. We must have had terrible luck, but then again the original review I wrote two weeks ago vanished for some reason so one can't always...
