Using boats instead of a conveyor belt is a neat idea. The aquarium behind it is nice to look at as well, but that's about it.
The menu looks interesting. 80 different dishes are offered for the boat track and the selection really looked appealing, but the entire concept doesn't work. There are 27 boats going around. Each Sushi variant produces 2-3 plates, so all boats can carry may be 10 to 14 different dishes...which they don't because the line was half empty at all times.
You pay by the color of the dishes, but some dishes don't have a color, so you don't know how expensive some of the stuff is you're getting. Also, the boats have no description of the food they're carrying, so many times you're guessing what you might be getting, but you'll only be sure if you taste it.
There were two cooks, but seemingly only one for a good half hour, slowing things down tremendously. We ordered some dishes, because we were especially interested in the vegetarian dishes which were not prepared at all, probably for being the cheapest. Between ordering and getting the stuff, it took some 15 minutes.
Service popped back in once after 45 minutes at which point we could finally order something to drink. Nice service person, but abysmal service mentality. After 90 minutes we left half hungry, having had 5 plates (=10 sushi rolls) and 4 entrees due to lack of other stuff for the insane price of 50 EUR plus 10 EUR to even get to the place and that was absolutely not worth it. For that kind of money you can get real sushi from a genuine Japanese restaurant with great quality Sushi. This one is run by Vietnamese people, though and the cooks weren't Japanese either.
Quality-wise the food is edible, but nothing to phone home about, but for the price asked, definitely falls flat. You can find Sushi on an equal quality level for half the price in Berlin. All in all, this conveyor belt/boat concept seems perfect, but doesn't work here. The boats would have to be filled at all times to offer at least a third of the advertised menu. Cooks should be sensitized to realize if guests are sitting there for 30-60 minutes without eating much to may be ask what is wanted. Instead, the entire experience feels like playing the lottery and losing most of the time. Not worth our time. We will...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. The food is good. The personal is very nice. The design is amazing. The prices are in the normal limits.
BUT:
I HATE the bar chairs. Incredibly uncomfortable, especially if you don't have longer legs 😂 the Menu is somewhat difficult. Ok, one can not really go to a Sushi restaurant and have big expectations for vegetarian food, I get it. Nevertheless it would be helpful to have a side note that the Miso soup is made with fish (the waitress was amazing helping us with the right information - and yes, there are places in Berlin that provide vegetarian Miso soup, with all the right Information in the menu, so no excuses there). And to stick to the vegetarian infos - not all the vegetarian products have the standard notice /information. Some of the fish was rotating for over 20 minutes on the small boats - and after the second round trip, no one wanted to eat if anymore. I wondered why 😂
All together, the place it's ok. But we will not go there again...
Read moreThe absolute best sushi restaurant I know, and it is my favourite food in the world. Anybody who goes there should try the Salmon Rose, it melts in your mouth and tastes divine. The only downside with the sushi in general is that it is a bit large, but I don't mind getting more for the price. The atmosphere is great, a bit dark, but the aquarium in front of you, surrounding the sushi kitchen in the middle is absolutely beautiful and worth it. The service is okay, you order sushi with the chef when he's available and other food and drink with servers who walk mostly behind you, which is rare. Overall, my favourite sushi restaurant for the food. Absolutely recommend anyone in the...
