Lovely setting in beautiful square around Ludwigskirche. Rather uncouth blond female attendant announced that our reserved table 08Aug.2020 wasn’t available, no explanation or apology offered. 1/3 of the tables w reservation signs were unoccupied. She seated us at last with a sigh, tough job it is. So much for making guests feel welcome. Not the best start to our much anticipated evening out, I’d say.
Young heavyset male waiter was clearly having a bad day, too. Long waits for wine, water, bill you name it. We were there for close to 3 hours, enjoyed setting, not the staff or food. Flammekuchen was dry as in way overcooked, Grauburgunder wine drinkable, tab water served in pretty carafes not free. Had we known we might have ordered mineral water instead. Weyers is a reputable name in Berlin gastronomy circles, not an inexpensive restaurant either. Had more pleasant experiences in past. Perhaps just bad luck on my part, ruined the experience nonetheless. Hoping...
Read moreI was looking forward to eating here after seeing some positive reviews but sadly the choice was very limited and very expensive. When arriving the service was not great but we were eventually seated and menus bought over. Only one of our party found a meal they wanted and therefore we went to another restaurant nearby which had a bigger variety and was only half the price! However whilst mulling over the menu choices and alternative dinner options (which took a good 10 minutes) we were not approached for a drinks order. If the restaurant was busy I could understand however it was very quiet with few tables dining and noone else arriving, no food going to other tables or anyone paying and leaving...
Read moreExcellent as usual. I had one of the house specials, the rump steak which was better than many (so-called?) filet steaks I have been expensively served in the UK. Tender throughout and not a gramme of fat to be seen. Just perfect. My wife had another house special, the Wienerschnitzel. Again faultless : a plateful of thin tenderness. I have never bothered to praise Weyers before, but I should have done. We have been there many times and never been...
