Café Gemach — Restaurant in Bielefeld

This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops in Bielefeld, but unfortunately, today’s experience has completely changed my impression.

When I entered, no one was at the cash register, so I waited. Eventually, a young woman came out from the kitchen and immediately told me, rather abruptly: “Please stand over there, this is where the cash register is.” When I hesitated for a moment, she repeated the instruction louder and with an unnecessarily arrogant tone.

Throughout the interaction, I felt I was being treated like a second-class customer. (I have an Eastern European accent, which may have played a role in her behavior.) When I confronted her about her attitude, she ignored me and only stated the price of my coffee. When I then asked for her name, she replied, “Lora,” and added with a caustic smile: “My manager’s name is Benny, for your information.”

The entire experience left me with a very negative impression. Sadly, I now associate this place with arrogance and disrespect rather than friendliness and good coffee. I will not...

I need to avoid lactose in my food, and was under the impression that there were vegan options here. Arrived at 13.20, ordered at approximately 13.30, then had to wait almost twenty minutes to be told that they didn't have any fruit salad. I was offered only two options of cake, which I had to wait for a further 15 minutes... I knew service would be slow (it's a small place), but this was bad. I often work away from home, & I try to support local, independent restaurants/cafés. Sadly, this was a very poor...

Einfach Klasse........ Waren mit unserer Familie hier lecker Brunchen. Hier ist es urgemütlich, die Einrichtung wurde mit viel Geschmack ausgewählt. Beim Brunch hat es an nichts gefehlt, ein Glas Sekt und O- Saft vorweg, knusprigen Brötchen und Croissants, die Käseauswahl, der geräucherte Lachs, der Seranoschinken, die Mailänder Salami, der knackige Salat, um nur einiges zu nennen, haben hervorragend geschmeckt. Ob Omeletts, Rühreier oder Pfannkuchen mit Blaubeeren, alles wurde frisch zubereitet. Auch die Süßkartoffel- Kokossuppe und die Tomaten Gemüsepasta mit marinierter Rauke und Parmesan, raffiniert gemacht. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und reichte stehts nach. Hier wird der Gast noch richtig verwöhnt. Das Café Gemach kann man uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.....Wenn wir nicht schon so satt gewesen wären, hätten wir auch von den leckeren selbstgebackenen Kuchen probiert.....Das werden wir sicherlich beim nächsten...
