THE BERNSTEIN — Restaurant in Bielefeld

Not recommended, the restaurant was a disappointment. Although the location is nice, the food was really bad.

We took firstly the “Starter” plate, that is bread with dips. I am not sure that that bread is made by the restaurant, it looked like the ones from the supermarket. Moreover it was old, literally it felt like it was cut the day before.

Pasta was mediocre and the burger was too salty, so I barely ate half of it. The only good thing was French fries.

Dessert: we ordered a cheesecake, and what we got was not even close to be a cheesecake. It was not a bad dessert, but if I order a cheesecake I want to receive it and not something that has nothing...

As the name change to "the" Bernstein indicates, the interior has become somehow a bit more big city like, personally I was missing any cozy touches or specific inspiration in the decor. This also came across in the menu which was served. Having been part of a group we were served standard food choices like goat cheese salad (some greens a goat would eat with a basic grilled cheese) and steak (rather small, but correctly cooked, not sure why they served bean sprouts with grilled potatoes and peppers, rather odd). The food was descent, but the portions are not big. We had fish, burgers and shweinmedallion. There was nothing wrong with the food, but nothing memorable either. The vegetables were probably overcooked. The view was excellent. But the service was horrendous. For our beers, the waiter threw the coasters in front of us without looking at us and in a disrespectful way. We had to get our cutlery for the table. We had to call them loudly to get our order. But the most annoying thing was the behavior of the waiter (not the other waiteresses). Overall, good view, average food, and...
