Good experience at Buddha Bowl, with some room for improvement

We visited Buddha Bowl spontaneously without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to get a table right away.

We ordered the vegan California sushi and the vegan Thai curry. Both dishes were decent, with the curry offering a nice kick of spice, just as described on the menu. While the flavors were good, we felt the portion size for the sushi was on the smaller side, especially considering the relatively high price. Compared to other similar restaurants I’ve tried, the value didn’t quite match up in terms of quantity or standout taste.

The service was friendly and attentive. One slightly odd detail was the ordering process: we weren’t allowed to place our food order until our drinks had been served, even though we were ready to order everything at once. It wasn’t a big issue since the drinks came quickly, but it did feel a bit unnecessary.

5 stars all around for everything. The vibe. The service. The food. I had the 300g steak medium and my wife had a tofu bowl. We started with sashimi. The fish was amazing. The steak too! And her bowl as well.

The teriyaki wasn’t overpowering at all. The chef’s exercised great restraint there as it’s so easy to overwhelm a dish. The steak was awesome but so were the other parts of my dish from the rice to the mushrooms and everything in between.

Wir besuchten dieses Lokal in unserem Rügenurlaub. Das Positive sind definitiv das Personal & das Ambiente. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich & hat auch mal einen witzigen Spruch auf Lager. Das Lokal biete sowohl Innen als auch Außensitzplätze an, die sehr schlicht, schön & elegant wirken. Beim Essen kann ich leider nur 2 Sterne geben. Meine Vorspeise Geldmakrele auf Mangosalat, empfohlen durch andere Rezensionen, war sehr salzig & schmeckte nur nach Sojasoße. Der Mangosalat schmeckten nach jedem möglichen Gewürz, aber nicht nach Mango. Das frittierte Chickengericht meiner Frau war hingegen lecker. Machen wir da gleich weiter.. Das Sushi meiner Frau war sehr einfallslos & fad. Da kann man auch Supermarkt- Sushi servieren, welches die gleiche Qualität aufweist. Mein Rinderfilet war zumindest auf den Punkt Medium, aber was diese dekorativen Salate, 3 Liter Sojasauce mit irgendetwas reisartigem rundherum darstellen sollte und vorallem nach was es schmecken sollte außer Glutamat weiß ich nicht. Auf Nachspeisen haben aus der Enttäuschung heraus verzichtet. Die Limonaden & Cocktails waren lecker, die meisten zumindest. Was die ganze Sache so richtig bitter aufschlagen lässt ist dabei das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. 140€ für 4 Getränke, 2 Vorspeisen & 2 'Hauptgerichte'. Wäre ja vollkommen okay, wenn das Essen einigermaßen okay gewesen wäre.. Ich weiß leider nicht ob der Koch keine Lust mehr hatte, weil wir sehr spät da waren oder ob das die Standardqualtität des Hauses ist. Ich werde dieses Lokal nicht noch...
