Phở — Restaurant in Bonn

Some staff were just downright rude. Will not go again. I went there alone at lunch and I was the only customer at the restaurant at that time. I sat and ordered food from a female staff who was perfectly nice. But then a male staff came and said “Nihao” to me to which I just said “Sorry.” Then he continued to ask Koreanisch, Japanisch blah blah. So I just told them I’m Korean. I know that it’s just asking where I’m from but I don’t like it because that’s also what they shout at me when random people are catcalling to me on the streets. My facial expressions were clear that i didn’t like it. And then they went on to talk for like five minutes in some language that I don’t understand saying things like Korean - blah blah -koreanisch - blah blah. Of course I could hear it because we were in the same room and there was no one else. I think it’s just rude to talk about someone in front of them. Especially in a language that they don’t understand. The pho wasn’t good by the way. Just...

The only thing I regret is not coming here soon enough.

The frühlingsrollen or springroll was really good and well seasoned. The phò had big portion and the taste was exceptional! For my Asian tongue the broth was initially a bit underseasoned. But this is good because then I can just adjust the broth to my taste. The beef cuts was also very fresh. The other dish was mango salad with fried duck. The mango was sweet and fresh and the duck was crunchy and crispy just as we love it. We asked for extra chopped chillies and maybe because of some miscommunication they only gave a small portion. I think you can have people order extra chillies at a price because I am actually happy to pay more for the chopped chillies. Other than that it was perfect!

The waiters are very friendly. The seatings are comfortable. It is really value for money for the portion and taste. You can also pay by debit card at a min purchase of 25€. I cannot recommend this...

Update 16. März 2019: Ha Long ist weg, Pho ist da.

Direkt nach Karneval sind die neuen Inhaber mit der Renovierung fertig geworden. Diese bestand vor allem darin, die Theke um 90 Grad zu drehen und die Wand zur Küche zu entfernen. Die Toiletten sehen noch exakt so aus wie zu Zeiten des irischen Pubs "Shamrock", der hier früher war und riechen auch nicht so toll.

Also eine offene Küche.

Was aus der Küche kommt jedoch, schmeckt nach wie vor so fade wie es seit dem Weggang des guten Kochs schmeckte, dafür wurden die Preise erhöht, was ich gut fände, wenn auch die Qualität besser geworden wäre. Die Preise das Ha Long waren teils unter den Gestehungskosten.

Unambitioniertere Küche, höhere Rechnung, müffelnde Toilette, offener Grundriss?

Ich ziehe noch ein Sternchen ab und gehe vorläufig wieder zum Asia Viet Thai, wo es bei gleichbleibenden Preisen aktuell wieder deutlich besser schmeckt. Ist vielleicht der Ha Long Koch wieder dorthin zurück gekehrt???

Das Restaurant hat Ende November den Besitzer gewechselt. Mein Lieblingskoch ist auch weg. Ich reduziere daher meine Bewertung, bis sich erweist, ob die die Qualität aufrecht erhalten können. Gestern war das essen sehr fade.

Auch ist hier mehr Platz, man sitzt nicht so gedrängt. Das ist mir aber weniger wichtig als der Geschmack. Es ist köstlich.

Mein neuer Lieblingsvietnamese in Bonn, war schon vier Mal hier essen und habe andere hingeschickt.

Auf meinen drei Fotos ist Huhn mit gelbem Curry zu sehen, das Tagesgericht am Freitag. sehr köstlich und zugleich günstig, dann eine "Scharfe Thaisuppe", von der ich nicht weiß, ob sie auf der Karte steht, ich habe sie einfach bestellt.
