This is our go to restaurant. We usually eat here once a week. So first I’ll give my top recommendations, then follow with a bit more context:
Fried pork with Sichuan Pepper Pork dumplings Vegetable skewers (mushroom & broccoli) Chicken broth soup w/ pork dumplings Cold sliced pork knuckle Rice cake with red sugar.
When we first moved to Köln we were on the hunt for the city’s best dumplings and this was in our top 3. But it’s the fried pork that had us coming back for more. The menu says baked pork, but it’s for sure fried and delicious and likely what we crave the most.
Next, spice! I can’t handle spice, but this place is worth the heat. The flavors of the sauces are so unique and delicious that the heat seems to be some what tolerable in exchange for the incredible food. So get a big bottle of water and maybe have some Kleenex nearby. But do not fear the heat, embrace it, because it’s worth it.
If you live here and have the time I would recommend trying everything on the menu at least once. Because I think you will be pleasantly surprised with some of your choices that you wouldn’t normally pick. For example; cold pork knuckle, that doesn’t sound very appealing to me, but I read someone’s review on here and they raved about it. So I tried it, and wow! It’s so good! And it’s now on our weekly order. Also the veggie skewers, sounds pretty boring right? I can confidently say that the veggie skewers have the best sauce on the menu! We usually ask for more of the sauce to dip our dumplings in it or add it to our soup.
The soups! Try all of the soups. The wording is a bit weird, or at least the translation to English is. But our favorite soup is under the homemade dumplings section. At first we thought they were soup dumplings, but it is dumplings in soup. But so delicious. All of the broths are next level good, I could just drink the broth daily and be happy with that.
The top 3 things that they really do right at Bai Lu are: 1) the fried pork, 2) the sauces, 3) the broth.
The pictures do not give the justice that Bai...
Read moreThis Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem with a really inviting atmosphere. Initially, I considered giving it a 4-star rating at the start because the dry noodles were a bit salty for my taste. However, I recognize that dishes from this region, including Switzerland, tend to be saltier, so the issue might just be my personal preference.
I tried the dry noodles, and they were delicious—spicy, flavorful, and well presented. If you’re sensitive to spice (and by this, I mean beyond your usual standard), I recommend trying the non-spicy soup noodles, which are also excellent. The noodles are perfectly tender, and the portions are very generous.
As for the cold skewers, while they aren't exactly like the original Sichuan dish, considering we’re in Germany, they still stand out. The ingredients are fresh, the beef is flavorful, and the giblets are a delightful touch.
The service is attentive and quick, making the overall experience even better. It’s a fantastic option when you want a break from traditional German cuisine. Highly...

We ordered Wanza and beef noodles. The noodles are not chewy, not as delicious as in the memory. It will not be wanting to have another serving after eating. The beef noodles are too, normally. If I only ate noodles, I would definitely only get 2 stars. It’s 【Snacks】A lot of extra points. Guagua Fen, personally do not like the taste, sweet and sour taste, the sweetness is too much, overwhelming the delicious jelly, but friends think it is very good. crispy meat, delicious! And the portion is just right, no more and no less! Recommend! pork knuckle, must order must order! ! ! Do not hesitate! highly recommended! ! ! It's so delicious! ! ! The Cuba is delicious, but the amount is too small. Bingfen, excellent! recommend. Finally we ordered Homemade Ice Cream, sesame and matcha flavor, excellent! I think it's...
