The Food was great, especially the prawn vindaloo was rich in flavour, not too watery or oily.
The service unfortunately left us disappointed. It began with the server being rather unfriendly and not paying much attention to us. This is not something I would care about too much if the rest of the visit had gone well, but things were about to get worse.
Later, the server interrupted me while I was trying to order our main dishes to ask me twice in a pushy tone whether I would really not order any starters, although I had never mentioned wanting any. It felt like he was trying to pressure me into ordering things I didn't intend on getting in the first place.
After that, when ordering the main dishes, he asked us which naan we would like to have with the main dishes. I had also never mentioned wanting naan, making it seem even more like he was trying to trick us into ordering extra dishes while causing the impression that the naan was included with the main dish. I had checked the menu before and knew this was not the case, but some other reviews mention not being vigilant enough and being surprised by the bill at the end.
During the meal (which tasted great tbf), nobody checked in with us, while a few servers checked in with the table next to us three (3!) times. At this price point, this is unexpected. It gave us a feeling of being ignored.
To make matters worse, once we finished the food, nobody checked in with our table until we left around half an hour later. I even got up after around 15 minutes to ask whether we could pay. In response to this ,I was asked to sit back down, with the explanation that others were waiting to pay for a longer time than us. This was fine by me, but after another 15-20 minute wait during which nobody acknowledged our existence, I had to come up to the register again. This time, we were allowed to pay, ending this miserable customer service experience.
I have worked as a full time server myself and am usually understanding of things going wrong when visiting a restaurant, but this service unfortunately crossed a line. The restaurant seems mismanaged with overworked and stressed servers seemingly pressuring and tricking guests into ordering extra dishes, ruining the nights of those trying to enjoy delicious food. The management needs to rethink their decision to run this restaurant the way they do. Scheduling more servers on a busy night and changing their policy which currently seems to prioritize pressuring guests into buying more food instead of serving guests quickly and seeminglessly would be a solid start to improve the guest experience at this restaurant.
Would love to come back for the food, but the service makes this unlikely to...
Read more5 stars for the atmosphere . It was really impressive . We had chicken tikka masala and nalli nihari , The food looks extremely good but tastes far from authentic, actually disappointing. The chef really needs to improve his recipes, just making them look good would not suffice to customers who are well versed with Indian cuisine, specially when the pricing is premium. Except the papdi chaat and naan which were nice.
The staff was really pushy for increasing the order value and when they could not they pushed for instagram story for a free surprise which was the papdi chaat. Now coming to the most irritating part was the interaction with the owner/manager, who once again ensured the instagram story was posted before we paid , and charged 5.5 euros for the rice , which I confirmed with the staff before ordering it to be included in the price , who also know we had thefork booking( I already read about this issue in many other google reviews so confirmed this with the staff before ordering). The owner's explanation was it is his first day here , which was a white lie, as the staff seemed very well versed with the menu and was also pushing us to order more courses. Cheap strategy for some extra bucks. What ever be the reason , why should the customer be asked to pay more if the staff already confirmed it on behalf of the restaurant. It is the owner and the staff's problem . I wanted to complain to Thefork but realized they asked us to pay at the counter in cash and didnot offer me the bill, not even a hadwritten one. When I asked for the details , the owner explained me the break up verbally. Also in such a premium restaurant , it is unbelievable that they don't bring the bill to the table and accept wireless payment options. I am sure this is only not possible for customers through Thefork booking . The overall experience was really poor.
If the management is confident about their ambience , food , pricing and service , they can just remove the discounts from booking platforms like Thefork / neotaste etc . Most restaurants with good food and service are thriving without any promotions. Customers queue for hours, sometimes prebook before weeks for a dinner table. But If the restaurant is offering the promotion then they should offer it with respect and without any discrepancies or...
