Food: We had the 'melted cheese' burger with fries and chicken wings. The burger patty and fries were cooked perfectly, but they were a bit stingy with the other burger components. The sauce on the chicken wings is okay for the first couple of wings, but definitely bought in and not freshly made. There should have been carrot and celery sticks with the wings, but that turned out to be a single, small stick of each. Atmosphere: What you'd expect from a sports bar. American sports and motor racing on big screen or projected on the wall above the bar. It's arranged in three rings: the bar, taller tables with stools for larger groups, and on the outside normal tables for 4. There's an upstairs area that we didn't check out. My wife and I spent the evening at the Xmas markets and noticed Joe Champs at the end of Rudolfplatz. Eager to watch a late evening Alabama college football game that was just starting, we walked over and asked if that would be possible. The manager was very accommodating and immediately put on the game on a couple of monitors. As the audience showed increasing interest, he put the game up on the big screen. I realize that it isn't always possible to do that, but the responsiveness of the manager deserves a lot of credit. Apart from that, Joe Champs (first time there) is a great sports bar with seating on two levels. We enjoyed a late dinner, and the food was really good. Absolut unterirdische Kommunikation und schlechter Service! Wir waren zum Fußball schauen dort und eine Stunde vor dem Anpfiff des Bayern-CL-Spiels bestellten wir Essen. Da waren höchstens 20 Prozent der Plätze besetzt. Als wir Pizza bestellten, wurde die Bedienung unsicher und lief zum Kellner, der die Nebentische bediente. Als sie zurück kam, meinte sie, es gäbe heute keine Pizza. Ich fragte nach dem Grund, und sie sagte, weil nachher viel los sei und dann mache man aus Prinzip keine Pizza. Das wäre normal, wenn viele Gäste erwartet würden. Ich fand die Begründung etwas merkwürdig, es war ja nicht WM-Finale oder so, sondern ein stinknormaler Mittwochabend, und bat sie, in der Küche nachzufragen, ob es wirklich keine Pizza gäbe. 2 Minuten später kam sie wieder und meinte, es gäbe definitiv heute keine Pizza, man hätte nicht einmal Teig vorbereitet, also wäre es nicht möglich. Daraufhin bestellte ich etwas anderes. Etwa 30-40 Minuten später sah ich dann, wie zwei Tische weiter ein anderer Gast eine Pizza serviert bekam. Kein Witz! Ich rief unsere Bedienung herbei und fragte sie, was denn der Herr dort drüben leckeres essen würde. Sie ging rüber, wurde unsicher, unterhielt sich dann länger mit einem anderen Kellner, kam zurück, und meinte "Oh, tut mir leid.". Ich fragte sie, wie das denn sein kann, dass ein anderer Gast Pizza bekäme, doch sie stammelte nur, dass sie die Info bekommen hatte, es gäbe keine Pizza. Dann ging sie weg ... Danach wurden wir auch nicht mehr bedient. Über eine Stunde später kam sie nochmal, stellte ein Getränk hin, sagte "Entschuldigung" und ging wieder. Warum wir angelogen wurden, hat sich nicht mehr geklärt. Die Kellnerin wirkte mit der Situation völlig überfordert und eigentlich zeigt es nur, wie schlecht der Laden geführt wird und wie hier mit Gästen umgegangen wird. Die Kellner machen alle auf cool, aber eigentlich sind sie überfordert und für den Job ungeeignet. Wenn das der Anspruch des Joe Champs ist, dann Gute Nacht! Klar ist: Der Laden hat nur Gäste, weil die Lage zentral ist und hier viele Touristen Sport schauen.
