Vetrina THE ITALIAN FOOD EXPERIENCE — Restaurant in Cologne

I was very disappointed as they did not have their delicious lasagna. Whenever I'm in Germany, I look forward to visiting this restaurant for the lasagna. What a bummer. The service was excellent as always.

Update to this review - unfortunately, I'm giving them 2 stars with this update. Back in Germany and could not wait to go to back to the Vetrina in the hopes of getting lasagna. Alas, it was the same story. However, this time, I actually ordered it and the waiter took the order but returned 15 mins later to inform me that there was no lasagna. How do you not know this when I ordered it? We arrived when the restaurant just opened so it was not that we showed up right before closing. Yes, I was annoyed but after I was forced to order a dish I didn't really want, the waiter's attitude changed. He never returned to the table to see if we needed anything and when clearing the plates at the end, asked me if I didn't like the food since I left most of it on the plate. What do you think? Of course I didn't like the food. It wasn't why I came back here. Had the baby calamari too and that didn't taste as great as it did 7 months ago.

Never again. Found a great Italian restaurant first night in Austria with the most amazing lasagna. When I return to Germany, I'll find a new place to visit.

Response to restaurant: Based on your response, I need to clarify something. I am not a difficult customer, actually the opposite applies. The reason for being this annoyed on this occasion was more to do with you not having lasagna, as I dined previously at your restaurant and had the same exact experience. The waiter took the order and came back later to inform me that there was no lasagna. Seven months later, I'm excited to visit again and was so happy when the waiter took the order. However, he returned 15 mins later to tell me the same thing that was said to me 7 months.

Extremely frustrating. If there was a lasagna shortage, why not remove it from the menu or at least inform up front that you are out of lasagna. If I had known that, I would not have dined there that night and have to eat something I did not want. That was the reason for the Austria mention. All I wanted was lasagna and had it a few times there. The waiter at your restaurant, who took care of us was an older gentleman and appeared to know what...

We really enjoyed our meal. We tried a few things from the menu, including the Scampi with Avocado/tomato Tartar, Baby Calamari, Orecchiette with Salsiccia/tomato sauce and the Bucatini with Speck, onions and tomatoes. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu (which came with a large spoon to the great distress of my partner (very German) but otherwise was also very good. In contrast to some other reviews we had a very nice/attentive server, who was new so had to check on one of our questions but we are pretty relaxed (except when it comes to spoons apparently 😂). Wir waren zum 60. Geburtstag mit der Familie ( 10 Personen ) dort. Der Service war unfreundlich und patzig, das ist uns allen direkt von Anfang an aufgefallen. Auf Fragen und Anliegen immer wieder patzige, genervte Antworten gegeben, obwohl wir sehr nett waren. Kein guten Appetit, kein Nachfragen ob alles schmeckt, es war wortwörtlich der schlechteste Restaurantbesuch und Service, den wir erleben durften. Und das an einem so besonderen Abend und besonderen Anlass. Daraufhin eine Reklamation unsererseits, da ein Gericht (Lachs) unserer Meinung nach nicht ganz durch war (innen drin noch roh) und nicht ganz aufgegessen wurde. Die unfreundliche, etwas ältere Dame sagte darauf: „die andere hatte doch auch Lachs, bei ihr war doch auch alles gut, beides wurde im gleichen Topf gegart, das kann nicht sein. Aber ich kontrolliere das einmal“ in einem aggressiven, lauten Ton. Kein Entschuldigung nichts. Ich komme selber aus der Gastro und habe noch nie so was erlebt oder bin mit Gästen so umgegangen. Dann kam sie wieder, und ruft laut: „ NEE ALLES PERFEKT MIT DEM LACHS, GENAU SO WIE’S SEIN SOLL, SCHÖN GLASIG.“ Und mehr wurde dazu auch nicht gesagt oder getan. Wie bitte ???? Absolute Frechheit!!! Was ein Ton und was ein Reklamationsverfahren!! Ich habe den Lachs nicht aufgegessen und habe nicht das erste mal Lachs in meinem Leben gegessen, auch wenn sie vielleicht Recht hatte, konnte man mir freundlicher entgegenkommen. Wir waren alle 10 Leute verblüfft von diesem schrecklichen Verhalten, wir haben knappe 500€ da gelassen und bereuen es, den 60. Geburtstag dort gefeiert zu haben.Das Restaurant ist keineswegs weiterzuempfehlen und eine SERVICESCHULUNG sollte in Anbetracht gezogen werden denn so geht man nicht mit zahlenden...
