Brauerei im Füchschen is a very popular brewery beerhall restaurant. It is conveniently located near the center of the city. The large 4-story brick city building has several wood bench tables in front, which are used by smokers or those who couldn't get a table inside. There is a large black awning that extends over these tables when it rains. The front of the building is decorated with red and white string lights, and over the entrance is their name in gold letters. Inside is a standing only waiting area for tables and ahead is a beer service bar. Also on the right is an additional service area for the servers that work outside. In Dusseldorf, naturally their flagship is the Altbier, but they also have a Pils on tap, and a Weizen in a 0.5L bottle. These were just average quality in my opinion. The draft beers are poured from traditional wood-jacketed kegs. The original brewery started in 1848, and has now been modernized. On the back side of the building is their circular logo and a gate that services the brewery. Inside you can just glimpse stainless steel equipment. The interior of the brewpub is decorated with traditional wood trim and echoes loudly with happy dinner conversations. Their large dining room is on the left and fills up quickly on peak evenings. Their menu consists of affordably priced starters, salads, sandwiches and traditional German meat dishes, as well as daily specials. The staff efficiently goes about their business. They are curt, but that is simply their style, and I thought did a good job keeping up with the crowd. The brewery mascot is a fox, which you'll spot in multiple places, including their circular brewery logo with a stein glass. It is a decent place that makes a...
Read moreAs a French visiting for Dokomi we ended up there for an authentic German brewery experience, we were a group of 10 and while the food and drinks were good I can confidently say that the staff is quite literally the single most disgusting group of human I had the displeasure to interact with.
First of all, the waiter tried to scam 20€ from us by counting more drinks than we actually had ( also giving us more beer before we finished the first as to prevent us from putting the coaster on the glass to signal we were done with beer )
Second of all, the waiter got very annoyed when we asked to split the bill and all pay by card, apparently it's a policy at this establishment that, obviously, is stated nowhere, he also told us we "should've asked prior" absolute clown.
Third, as if scamming us wasn't enough, he desperately held us at the restaurant for 20 minutes over this being extremely petty and chaining rude comments after rude comments, he finally let us pay for the correct amount and each our share, while also taking his sweet time to count the bill ( See, they can scam us but they will make sure you don't )
And fourth, the staff glared as we left. Seeing multiple reviews talking about the same problem maybe you guys should apply your brains toward getting a proper education rather than scheming pathetic attempts at extorting more money...
Read moreI found out about this place by its reputation on travel websites so I got two of my friends and we went to have our lunch here.
We were not disappointed. In fact, its one of the best pork knuckles I had in Germany. Better than HBF and Haxenbauer in Munich.
The pork knuckle was huge! However, since I'm a big eater, the portion was just nice for me. My other two friends shared another knuckle plate and a dish of ribs.
The meat in the knuckle was moist and tender, flavourful and literally slides off the fork! Not a single piece of it's inside was dry or tough. A superb achievement! The star of the show was of course, the skin! I am not joking nor exaggerating when I tell you that it is so crispy, that cutting it resulted in a loud cracking noise! It is that good!
If you want to try pork knuckles and give up on all other versions in Germany or probably around the world, you must try theirs. Without a single shred of doubt, the best I ever eaten!
As for the beers and ribs, I am not a beer fan so I'll leave it for others to review their alcohol.
Their service was also excellent and friendly. It's a self seating restaurant so just go in and find a table. Menus are available in a variety of languages. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and food is delivered promptly. High quality food in an authentic German pub....
