Wir haben uns beim Zug durch die Altstadt ursprünglich von der Ankündigung der Muschelgerichte hineinlocken lassen. Dort, in einer zugegeben wenig prätentiösen Umgebung, haben wir dann aber auf einer liebevoll gestalteten Sonderkarte herrliche und ursprünglich und hochklassig zubereitete Küche gefunden, die wir dann auch als Himmel und Ähd sowie Lammkeule mit Rosmarinkartoffeln gewählt haben. Es blieb kein Wunsch offen, sowohl geschmacklich als auch Portionsgröße. Die Alt waren so, wie sie sollen; Killepitsch als etfreulicher Abschluss. Klar, hier ist weder Neon noch Schickimicki, aber dafür ehrliche, exzellente Küche. Dass zwei Servicekräfte gerade angelernt wurden, sei verziehen; es ist ja heutzutage immer schwieriger, Personal zu bekommen. Fürs Essen gibt es ehrliche und auch so empfundene fünf Sterne. Und der Rest kommt wieder.

A nice place with traditional German cuisine. The schnitzel was exceptionally tasty, however, I left the place being a bit hungry which is surprising for a 20€ dish. The staff is super attentive and fast, we’ve barely been waiting our food and beer.

Great place!!! Friendly staff, good food at very reasonable prices, and just about 3 blocks from the river. My server, Nils, was excellent - great conversation, engaging, and great service - he moved the 4-star to 5-star.

Very good service, delicious food, affordable price. We went there on a Monday night and there was a decent crowd. There were only 2 people manning the place but they were both very attentive and polite, and was regularly updating us on the status of our order. Food was delicious, in huge serving and with fresh ingredients. We got meatballs, schnitzel, blood sausage, 3 small glasses of altbier and 1 bottle of water -- paid only 39eur. The order also came with a complementary basket of bread and a plate...

The waiter was extremely rude (grey hair) He moved the table while we were eating and put it next to another one and said after that “you have to leave this table is reserved “for 6pm , it was 17:40

FYI The other waiter told us upfront, when we arrived, that we can be there until 19:00 cause after that the table is reserved.

Never got treated like this , he didn’t even deserved any tip but he charged it in cash anyways...

We visited as tourists. My wife (who is from Dusseldorf) and I were shocked to find they only took cash. We had to borrow money from our friends! What is it with German restaurants and their paranoia about modern technology. It's 2019. Food was nice, beer selection not as good as where we live in California. Yep, the Americans make better beer than the Germans...
