Worst birthday dinner ever !! My recent experience with my birthday dinner was nothing short of a disaster. I couldn't have imagined a more disappointing celebration.
To start with, the ambiance at this so-called Spanish restaurant was a far cry from what one would expect. The bizarre service only added to the strangeness. We ordered sangria but were served a cocktail instead, which was just the beginning of our woes.
As if the service mishap wasn't enough, my birthday celebration took a bizarre turn when an older man at the restaurant attempted to kiss me with no apparent reason or excuse after they served the cake. As I said NO, It was an awkward and uncomfortable moment for me and my husband.
Now, let's talk about the food – or rather, the lack thereof. If you have any inkling of what authentic Spanish cuisine tastes like, you'd be appalled by what was presented on our plates. We ordered sardines, and what arrived were a few dry, flavorless fish with no accompaniments or sides. It was a pitiful excuse for a dish.
The Patata Brava was equally disastrous. Instead of the classic spicy tomato sauce, it was drowned in a strange, unidentifiable dressing that obliterated any semblance of flavor. It was as if they were trying to cover up their lack of culinary skills with excessive condiments.
To add insult to injury, we ordered lemon sorbet for dessert, but what we received was nothing more than a bowl of sugar granules that hadn't even dissolved correctly. It was inedible, to say the least.
In conclusion, my birthday dinner was an absolute nightmare. From the bizarre ambiance and strange service to the abysmal quality of food, this restaurant managed to ruin what should have been a special celebration. I will never set foot in this place again, and I strongly advise anyone considering dining there to steer clear. It was a birthday dinner that I would...
Read moreWe got that place recommended from friends and reserved for 6 at 20:30. We were the latest guests, as all other tables were already finished with the main course. That was lucky for us, as the waitress (and owner) was alone doing all tables, so she had time for us enough. Cosy place but rather small plates of tapas compared to other Spanish restaurants in old town. The meat was tasty but a bit more cooked than medium and we ordered medium rare. But we learned that you have to tell you mean medium rare really, as German customer expect a level more cooked with the a cooking grade. The Cava was great but the red wine was disappointing, first bottle 2014 Murieta Riserva was 'dead'. The owner changed it, but also the second one was only little better. We had no explanation why this wine was not how we knew this wine. We got offered a Apéro liquor and also a...
Read moreI received the kind of treatment I expect to receive when I go to any restaurant. They didn’t know about celiac disease but I was lucky. Anita, one of the cooks and waitress, listened to me carefully. I explained her all my allergies and intolerances. I had checked the menu before going to the restaurant and I identified some options that could be safe. After talking with her, she made sure no cross-contamination would happen in the kitchen. With her help, I chose a tapa of “tortilla de patatas” and a “grilled beef sirloin with baked potato”.
I wish there would be more restaurants like this in the world. The food was great and the treatment and care was even better! Thanks...
