We stopped by here tonight without a reservation, and we were very lucky to get in - thank you to the waitresses for squeezing us in before the reservations started. My wife and I both ordered the Schnitzel - I had the peppercorn sauce, and my wife had the onions, bacon, and mushrooms. They both came with a side (fries were tasty) and a salad. The salad was very fresh and had the dressing under the vegetables - the more you stirred, the more ended up on the salad. The dressing was very tasty and you will not need more than what they give. The Schnitzel was delicious - I will say that my wife's may have been better hahaha. It was a very local establishment, and the waitresses were very friendly...and busy. I highly suggest making a reservation. Also, note that if you don't speak German, please be patient with the waitresses - their English is better than your German 🙂. Highly recommend this...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem. From the street it doesn’t have a glitzy appearance. You enter through the bar area to an oldy world interior. The waitress is charming, from Greece. We order schnitzel, my wife’s with mushrooms and onions and mine with a pepper sauce. We both ordered croquettes. Light salad to start with a lovely sauce. The schnitzel was heavenly, the croquettes divine. We chose a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Venezia. The meal was simply amazing. We are leaving for Berlin tomorrow but have already reserved a table for next week when we return to Dusseldorf. Highly recommend you try Zwolf Apostel on Bilker Allee. Thank you, thank you, Pauline and Terry...

On the other side, they had absolutely NO English knowledge AT ALL, and on top of that I had to wait 20 minutes before taking a menu myself out of exasperation, after which I had to wait other 20 minutes to even being asked if I had chosen something. The room wasn't full, but there was probably a large family celebrating a child communion, who got all the attention. I strongly suggest preparing some German sentences beforehand if you want...
