I visited spontaneously on a Tuesday evening and ordered the tacos with nopales and al pastor. They were delicious and authentic. In Mexico you would also get your tacos in two small corn tortillas. But four small tacos was not enough for a main course and should be listed as a starter. I followed up by ordering a quesadilla tinga which was also delicious. Mexican food should have a bit of heat but it was completely mild despite the chili icon next to the dish. They have definitely adjusted the recipes to suit a German pallet. I asked for some hot sauce and was shocked that they didn’t have any bottled hot sauce. The server gave me a menu and said I could order the homemade salsa as an extra for 1.90€. I’ve eaten Mexican food all my life and it’s the first time I’ve ever been asked to pay additional for salsa or that bottled hot sauce wasn’t even available. I supposed it was another German culture adaptation since one needs to pay extra even for ketchup on french fries in this country. Then a few minutes later the German customers sitting next to me also asked for salsa from a different server and it was brought right away, without handing them a menu first. Häää!? Needless to say I was irritated at the different treatment I received as a non-German. Personally I wouldn’t return but if you visit I recommend bringing your own hot sauce if you like it spicy and ordering double portions if...
Read more[Dead Bee in Burrito] Casita Mexicana disappointed me quite badly. Since I do not believe that they reflected well and took any action after the incident yesterday (13.08.2019), I would like to share my experience here. As mentioned in title, I found a dead bee in my Burrito (season special: Caesar salad burrito) after eating 1/3 of it, and informed the waiter accordingly. He said sorry and told that he would let the kitchen know about this. We were sitting just next to the kitchen so I watched if the man in the kitchen is going to check/clean/throw some ingredients away. However, during the time when I watched (~30 minutes after finding the bee), nobody cleaned the kitchen to be sure that there is no other bee in that area. The waiter came to our table 5 -10 minutes after my feedback to remove other plates and he was asking "Is everything alright?" We just found a BEE IN THE BURRITO?! Many people have a strong allergic reaction to bee and I would have expected a serious action/apology, rather than saying "sorry" and asking "everything alright" after 5 minutes. The burrito was not included in the bill and we paid for everything else, no tips though. Once we were leaving, nobody apologized or explained anything else. Those incidents can happen in any restaurant but this was managed really bad at this Casita Mexicana and I have no trust anymore that they take the food hygiene &...
Read moreThe taste is good. But they serve so little of the food and accompaniments , that one def. feels taken advantage of. Sometimes one gets a tiny sliver of lemon with the tacos. Sometimes none at all. Salsa is also absent. The quesadillas main dish that costs almost12 euros (just cheese, if you want any other tea spoon size filling, you must pay extra too) comes with 2 tiny quesadillas and a handful of fluffly lettuce. Looks pretty and tastes good, but should be listed as a small plate or appetizer and cost 40% less, at least. Sangria Mexicana tasted all like lemon water, acid and bitter. The wine put in was a tiny splash. Almost 9 euros. Nachos composed of tortilla chips with some cheese, beans, salsa and jalapeños 15,90 euros. No meat at all. For that one must pay extra too. Usually nachos that cost like a main entree include chicken or beef. Positive? You inspired me to cook more at home. On top of that, the service is incredible. It started raining, and when us and other customers tried to move inside (in the middle of our meal), a server blocked us (the inside was almost empty), and said she would have to see if we could come in to finish our meal because they had reservations?! Usually servers help customers move tables when it starts pouring in the middle of their meal....
