The food was good, the service is... not so much (unfortunately not atypical for Germany). I asked for a second drink which was confirmed but never arrived. I was asked 3 times if I want the food really spicy, I said yes bring it on make it really spicy not like generally for Germany - it was just mild, not even what I would consider a medium. It's disappointing but I even understand (I'm very understanding.. maybe too much..) that they are afraid to give spicy food (but after asking 3 times and me confirming, still? really?) but after such an order at least come and check after serving if it's ok, offer some chili sauce or something, act like you care. Price is a bit expensive. I know it's hard to fault them, it's a general tendency, but still it's just ok, not great. The payment terminal has the intrusive american style options for selecting how much tip you want to leave. I gave the average because I didn't want to feel uncomfortable as I was being watched, but I instantly realized this is psychological warfare - they do this precisely because they know most people will feel uncomfortable and tip even if they otherwise wouldn't want to. As far as I know we pay a fair wage in Germany to everyone, including restaurant staff - anyway it's the job of the business owner not the customer's. Hence it's not like in US where restaurant staff is exempt from even minimum wage laws and they would starve without tips. The food was otherwise pretty high quality really, if the service would match it I would have given 5* but now I will avoid it mainly due to the customer service...
Read moreWent for the first time today with a friend, the food was super delicious, we had spring rolls in different varieties, a Refresher and some Chicken with peanut sauce. They have bigger portions but small enough to fit an appetizer. They do have good options for vegan/vegetarian. Sadly the service was lacking, especially one person. We waited a good amount of time at the door while staff was working at the bar and seeing us but no one was greeting us or asked us for the table. I can understand if you're in a rush, but at least 3 people saw us and didn't say a word, they informed us that it would be a waiting time of 30-45 minutes because of a bigger table in the back (we felt like an inconvenience because we didn't reserved a table, it was noticeable that the server was unhappy with that). So he seated us at the bar for like 5 minutes and afterwards told us we have time till 7.30pm at a specific table, to be fair it was Saturday and it was late, so I think that was a fair compromise. We had to wait a while after our appetizer for the main course, it was a little too long (restaurant wasn't full but close to) since we only had time till 7.30. Overall it is a nice place to enjoy delicious food in a very nice good looking restaurant. We will be...
Read moreTook a parcel. Thai red curry. Authentic Thai food is mixture of different fresh herbs and spices, aromatic and hot. The order curry was mild, adding to insult it was made sweet with excessive sugar. I can understand for European palate it is toned down in hotness, but making sweet ruined the taste. Quantity is also less for the price. Fresh Basil was missing in curry reducing its fresh taste. Update: I visited the restaurant again and ordered the red curry. This time asked them not to put sugar in it. This came out again sweet. It clearly means, they use pre-prepared curry in mass and can't change the taste. They said, they can't change the taste and asked to order some other curry. I'd to wait, after that, they put curry separately and swiched the crisp duck breast, which by now was completely cold. The cook took revenge and put too much chilli, making it very hot, seemingly on purpose.
I used to be their long time customer since from Haupt Str. Now I'm not going to...
