A recent dining experience at Ariston Restaurant left me with mixed feelings, as the establishment presented a striking contrast between its remarkable culinary offerings and its woefully inadequate service. Allow me to share my thoughts on this intriguing dining experience.
Ambiance (4/5): The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, with tasteful décor, dim lighting, and a cozy atmosphere that exuded a sense of sophistication. It set the stage for what promised to be a memorable meal.
Service (2/5): Unfortunately, where Ariston Restaurant fell drastically short was in the service department. Our initial impression was not promising, as it took an uncomfortably long time for a server to acknowledge our food was ready, it took over 1 hour for the mains. Throughout the evening, the waitstaff seemed overburdened and disorganized, leading to lengthy delays in taking orders, food, and providing basic attentiveness. Multiple requests for refills and condiments were forgotten or ignored, and the overall service experience left much to be desired.
Food (5/5): On a brighter note, the food at Ariston Restaurant was undeniably exceptional. It's evident that the kitchen is staffed by talented chefs who take great pride in their craft.
Beverages (3/5): The beverage selection at Ariston Restaurant was adequate, but not particularly noteworthy. The wine list was decent, offering a range of options to complement the meal, but it didn't stand out as extraordinary.
Price (3/5): While the food quality warranted the price range, it's hard to justify the cost when the service experience was so lacking. Dining at Ariston Restaurant is an investment, and it's disappointing that the service did not match the prices.
In summary, Ariston Restaurant is a place of culinary excellence with a glaring Achilles' heel - its service. The remarkable food alone may be enough to draw patrons back, but the frustrating and disjointed service experience undoubtedly taints the overall dining journey. If the restaurant can address its service issues, it has the potential to become a true dining destination for those seeking gourmet cuisine. Until then, diners should be prepared for a culinary rollercoaster of delights and...
Read moreAriston became a victim of its own success. Its distinguishing feature was excellent home cuisine and some of the best modern interpretations of traditional Greek oven cooking. The menu changed over the years, as did prices, neither for the better. I had hoped Ariston had improved and stabilised again, so I booked Saturday at 8.30 pm. It was a celebration dinner. My partner ordered the 4 course meal, I've ordered from the menu. Taramasalata was bland, pork souvlaki competent but not distinguished (meat pieces varies from soft to tough). Pumpkin soup was excellent, as was the fish carpaccio. However the lamb filet was overcooked and tough as a result. All together a mixed culinary impression.
The worst aspect of the evening was the timing: we were rushed through our courses with 5-10 minutes breaks in between. If you order champagne as aperitif and a bottle of wine to accompany the meal - you can reasonably expect to be allowed time to drink it. We ended up taking 1/3 bottle full home with us. We have observed the rushed service at the ables near us, and very efficient turnover of guests. We paid 180 Eur for a celebration dinner for two, but felt it was a waste of money and time. Just for the record: the rose wine we've paid 40 Eur for retails for approx. 13 Eur. Another unpleasant touch. The owners should perhaps consider running a sheep farm, given their experience in fleecing the dinner guests mislead by good reviews. Sadly the greatness of the establishment lies in the past. We will not...
Read moreThis is a beautiful, modern, Greek restaurant in downtown Frankfurt.
The location is great and relatively easy to find. The staff is professional and friendly, and the food is really tasty.
We stopped by unannounced (not recommended to go without a reservation), but we were early enough that we got lucky. They were very accommodating of us and found us a great seat near the windows.
Our food came very quickly and you could immediately tell that it was very fresh. Everything looked like it was made in house without any pre-prepared mass market, frozen ingredients. Really nice. The food really was super tasty. To be clear, this isn't your typical Greek restaurant with gyros and fries. This restaurant is upscale and serves both fresh fish and meat entrees. There's even vegetarian meals on the menu. All the food is authentic Greek from various areas of Greece. I can highly recommend the Smirneika meatballs 🧆 and the grilled octopus. 🐙
The decor in the restaurant is also very tasteful and the place looks very nice. It has a modern Greek vibe without the usual over the top decor you see in most German-based Greek restaurants.
Long story short we were very happy with our dinner. It was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to go again. I'm looking forward to the next time I'm in Frankfurt to visit them again. If you are in the area and looking for dinner.... Do not hesitate to go here. You will...
