First of all, if you don't have a museum card, I would suggest not visiting this museum. Paying an individual ticket would be a total waste of money. The building is unique, but the lighting and technology used to present the art are outdated. It is possible that the curators do not have the budget or resources to bring in the right exhibitions. While I am not comparing MMK with MOMA or Lousiana Museum of Modern Art, but is reasonable to expect a similar level of quality to that of Barcelona or even Lyon Modern Art museums. But unfortunately it is not comparable. The exhibitions and technology demonstrations in a standard high school are more impressive than what is offered at this museum. It is a shame that a museum in a city like Frankfurt is called a modern art museum when it does not meet the standards of a modern art museum. The attached pictures are all I could create from this so-called modern art museum. I would suggest that the curators visit the Judischer Museum to see new technologies on display within Frankfurt. For exhibitions, Städel would be the best example. Additionally, I find it amusing that there are more security personnel than visitors, and the staff are not dressed in suits but rather blue aprons.

The newest of Frankfurt’s museums was founded in 1981.[1] The idea to set up a museum for modern art in Frankfurt came from Peter Iden, an influential theatre and art critic at the Frankfurter Rundschau and founding director of the museum (1978-1987). With the Mayor Walter Wallmann (CDU) and the Head of the Cultural department Hilmar Hoffmann (SPD) Iden found political advocates for his project. In 1989, the Swiss art historian and curator Jean-Christophe Ammann[2] moved from the Kunsthalle Basel to Frankfurt am Main and opened the new Museum für Moderne Kunst (MMK) Frankfurt am Main there on June 6, 1991. With a new exhibition model, the Change of Scene, which took place a total of 20 times with the help of private sponsors (Change of Scene I, 1992 until Change of Scene XX, 2001-02), the new museum gained international renown. At the change of scene exhibitions, the inventory of the museum was rearranged every six months and enriched with new additions, loans and special exhibitions.

Ridiculously brazen, laughable, and a wasted opportunity - despite it being free for me. Yes, Art is subjective. That isn’t an excuse for the lacklustre curation. It lacks character, quality, diversity, appeal and relevance. Looking at other cities and their modern art museum equivalents renders ours as an utter embarrassment in its totality. They desperately need a new director who is aware of the times and is intrinsically interested in keeping art interesting; art shouldn’t have to be a punishment. Also, the “free” ticket to the Zollamt-museum is an extension of their ignorance towards their vocation and proof of their incompetence. Being from Frankfurt, it angers me that they can get away with such a weak museum. Money aside, save yourselves the time until they get their act together.

This is a good gallery and you can see some amazing work here. But sadly I get a bitter taste from a moment I had with staff. I and my partner went here and we enjoyed the admiring the exhibition. We had 10 minutes before the museum was closing we were in a rushing to see what's left of the exhibition when this woman said we have to go now. We tried to explain that we would be ready to go when we finished which should be like 5 to 7 minutes. The woman would not leave ours alone saying we have to go now. Again I explained we still have time we paid for the tickets we would like to see the rest. At this point, she was being rude say we have to to go don't you understand! She was trying to antagonize ours which at this point started to wind me up I ask to speak to the manager she said there was no manager in today. I was so unhappy the whole experience and this was a year ago I went back again MMK Museum just recently and it reminded me of this bad experience. Just be wary with the staff and if there's 10 minutes left of...
