Step out and escape to an authentic Japanese experience. I have never liked soups - they contain too much water and usually I consider using this particular space in my belly for solid foods. This time I wanted to be a little bit more open and so, as we stumbled over this little restaurant with a waiting line outside of it, I wanted to figure out if I am really that much anti-soup.
When you step in front of the big window and see all of the people inside, the atmosphere and even the interior, it feels like you are watching thru a little wormhole right into a restaurant in Japan. Step inside and put your name on the list, because this place is highly popular. After a 45min waiting time, we got seated by a very friendly waitress.
The menu card is clear and has a few items. I picked the Vegi Aka Ramen dish, which has a spicy sauce, pieces of soy, avocado, Miso paste, garlic and many more tasty ingredients.
What can I say... I really loved it! It felt like a party in my mouth and everyone got invited. The soup was creamy, the noodles had a firm texture and the avocado, as well as the pieces of soy were a perfect match. I even ate the piece of garlic and the whole dish was so tasty that I ate my plate clean.
As for price vs. the amount you receive: I'd consider a price of 15,40€ to be ideal (it actually costs 18.80€) since it's actually a vegetarian dish and those with meat actually cost around 14 to 17€.
All in all it was a very nice experience for me, but I must admit that even though everything seemed to be very authentic and for 30 minutes, which is how long it took us from ordering the food until we had finished our meal, I forgot that I was in Frankfurt, this is my first time eating Ramen and I cannot tell you how authentic the food is - all I can tell you is that this particular dish was very tasty and I would always pick that one again - hopefully with an adjusted price :).
A little hint for the table management; There was a table reserved for a long period of time and it might make sense to ask those, who are waiting outside, how long they would need for their food, because during the time we were waiting and then eating, probably three couples could have...
Read moreFirst time here. We came in apparently just before rush hour, It was a bit busy when we came in, then after about 10 minutes it was completely full. This was perhaps close to noon Service was nice and attentive. The food took a bit to arrive but it was understandable given the sudden rush. This is a great ramen. I had the Aka Tonkotsu and my wife the Aka Miso. First of all, the chili is not exactly hot but still you will notice it is in there, it even made my nose runny. Would be nice to be able to ask for the level of "hotness" though. Then as expected, the miso's broth was way lighter and less fatty than the Tonkotsu which has more body. Both were superb. Overall a delicious ramen ! Would love to come back and try everything else
Edit. Forgot to mention The portions are small! I think these are the smallest portions I've seen in a ramen restaurant. I still left happy and satisfied, but if you usually get more than a regular sized bowl of ramen, you might want to consider ordering...
Read morePretty spontaneously went to Ramen Jun for lunch with my sister and I'm glad I didn't decline. The location is less than 7 minutes away from Skyline Plaza in a quiet side street. Red and black are the dominating colours of the decoration but it looks very nice. The seating area is stretched on two floor levels. Service was very friendly and helpful when we were not sure about which Ramen to take. The starters came shortly after we ordered and there was enough time to enjoy them before our main dish came in. I had the Tonkotsu Deluxe (12€) while my sister had the Aka Deluxe with Avocado topping (15,5€). There was a small misunderstanding and they first added Avocado to my Ramen, after I explained that I'm allergic they gave me a whole new bowl (I know because I would have had an reaction from the traces). The broth was A1 and the noodles had the perfect consistency. The Chashu was perfectly sliced and was fitting for small bites. We spent 38€ (+tip/ no drinks). A very pleasant...
